Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have toyota camry 2001. Recently I changed my timing belt and water pump at firestone. Since after I feel that even if the ac switch is off, air is coming from dashboard vent when accelerating the car. There is no smell in the air and the amount of air blown out is proportional to the speed. The ac is working fine and blow hot and cold air properly.

Hi, my 1990 Toyota Camry with 3S-FE engine noises on timing belt side recently. I got my timing belt and water pump changed in 2006 December. So far I drove the car around 50,000km. I changed my power...

I had the same problem in my 3sFE, I thought the same way you did, but it turn out to be the fan, check if there is any play in the fan, change it and your scrutching noise will be no longer there

Remove the timing belt and then you can access the water pump. Medium difficulty. Don't attempt if not sure about timing belt r&r.

My 2000 Camry XLE has 130,000 miles on it. I was thinking of changing the timing belt because I don't know if the previous owner replaced it or not, I do not want to take the chance. Can you tell me please...

Timing belt change interval is 75,000 miles.

It's time to change the T-Belt and water pump now.

Water pump is directly behind the timing belt cover.

It's best to get the water pump done at the same time.

I need to know if the water pump freezing up can jar the timing belt loose. 2000 toyota camry le orgifly@yahoo.com

The timing belt runs the water pump. If the pump bearing is bad, yes it could cause the timing belt to jump or even strip some of the teeth from the belt.

Hi Mike.

You have 2 issues, and you really need to get the growl issue checked ASAP. What your noise is, is probably a bad water pump. I change them daily. Just did one this morning. The water pump is driven by the timing belt. If the pump locks up, you will ruin the belt, and the car will not restart. Get it checked, replace the pump.

On the P-0401, you have a blockage in the EGR valve, or the tube going to it is carboned up. This is another common issue.

Please let me know about the pump.
A FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly aappreciated.
Thnaks in advance.
