There is, but you should take it to a transmission specialist. The repair of Auto gearboxes is more of an art than a science. I've been fixing cars for 40 years and I still can't fix them. I can rebuild a manual gearbox without difficulty.

thanks alot for your respond, now that u now that u know about this, what would u think that could be if my car pulls pertty bad when it trows gears it also wont pass from 2nd or 3rd gear and if i stop in a light would delay to go back down to idle on drive gear, i would have your recomendation on mind, but may be i was tring to do the wrong test by testing the selinoid. thank you so mutch for your help.

From your description, I would say that your transmission fluid is low. Do not use engine oil to top up your transmission, you need hydraulic fluid. It is sold as "Transmission Fluid".

You may need to replace the external speed sensor switch located on the back of transmission next to the tail shaft. It runs about $26.00 and take less than 10 minutes to replace.

When I try to connect my battery wire to the Terminal, and what do you mean I have no ignition motor trying to crank?

Your wire to the starter selinoid has some how bypassed the key switch or the selinoid is bypassed or mechanically stuck closed. The selinoid is a magnetic switch that closes the curcuit for the larger starter wire You must to make sure you are connecting the wires to the correct spots.

Trans wont shift into overdrive and jerky if you step on gas a little hard just started all of a sudden no problems before

Sounds like you have a bad selinoid in your transmission. Take it to a local transmission shop and have them look at it. 9 out of 10, its the selinoid. The place will probably recommend to have them all changed. Spend the extra cash and do it. That should fix you right up ! have a good day !!

How do I tell if the starter is bad or the selinoid on my 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis?

TAKE THE BATTERY OFF THE ONE SIDE OF THE SELINOID POSTIVE ONE COMMING FROM THE BATTERY KEY ON AND TOUCH IT TOO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SELINOID WHERE THE CABLE GOES DOWN TO THE STARTER IF THE STARTER ENGAGES WITHOUT THE SENOID SO JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS DO THIS STATER ENGAGES SELINOID BAD IF THE STATER DON'T ENGAGE THE STARTER IS BAD

Have a 1995 ford f150 replaced starter selinoid and baterry win i turn engine over it clicks from selinoid on firewall oh and replaced battery cables

Do you mean that all that happens when you try to start the engine is a click from the solenoid? If so, Place a test light on the starter terminal itself and have someone try the starter. If the light comes on, but the starter doesn't run, replace the starter (probably bad brushes). Make sure the engine to frame grounding strap is intact first. Hope this helps!

How to change starter selinoid

the starter selinoid is on the starter itself. normally a parts dealer will never seel you a starter selinoid individually but they will sell the starter with the selinoid. but you cant change the selinoid without changing the starter

Where is the shift solinoid located on a 1996 4L 80E transmission

I WORKED AT A TRANS SHOP, THE SHIFT SELINOID IS IN THE TRANSMISSION.I DO KNOW THERE WAS AN UP DATE FROM GM WITH THAT PROBLEM.ANS

ITS NOT THE SHIFT SELINOID ITS IN THE VALVE BODY.THEY HAVE A NEW REPLACEMENT PART FOR THAT AND SOME DRILLING IS REQUIRED FOR MORE FLUID FLOW
