SOURCE: I have a 1994 ford Problem
Hello, There is a part you need to clean which may eliminate this problem. If you follow the Air Intake ducts to the top of the engine there is a metal part that is called the Airhorn. There are 8 bolts holding it in place once you disconnect the plastic ductwork and unplug a sensor.
Beneath this part is a gasket. Beneath this gasket is a groove which is roughly C shaped with a short slot in the center of it. Get some Choke cleaner and a drillbit or screwdriver and remove the junk that is in this groove. Clean it so it is the same color as the rest of the Intake manifold. Replace the $10 gasket available as Aftermarket parts.
Then reassemble everything, start it up and see if it runs better. The part that you cleaned supplies EGR flow to the EGR valve. That whole area measures pressure in several sensors which can making a "bumping" sensation in the drive-train. The "bumping" is the conflict in the switching of the sensors because of low pressure.
If this fails to eliminate the problem, press your Overdrive button to shut off the Overdrive. Drive the car and see if the "slipping" stops. You can be having problems with the Overdrive Solenoid for the transmission or the Lock-up of the Torque converter. These parts usually engage in the 40MPH speed range. You will notice the engine revving without Overdrive and the vehicle will use more fuel.
You can get a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys or even Advance autoparts. There may be a problem with the lack of a "check engine" light but you need to know if the onboard computer is working or missing problems.
I hope I have been very helpful in providing possible problems. My first solution fixes many vehicles.
