Engine number has no relation to date of manufacture. you will have to talk to a dealer to find out when the engine was assembled

I need to know the year of my Ford V- 8 engine. It is a 302 and the number on the engine block is 9K2B?

You need one more bit of information!!!
What we have is your engine date code, providing the year of manufacture, but not the "Decade" of manufacture. You will need the Engine Tag/Plate number for additional info.
    • 9 = ninth year of a certain decade
    • K = month
      • A = Jan
      • M = December
      • (i is not used)
    • Next 2 digits are numbers, hence I think your B is an 8
Your engine was manufactured on October 28, 19x9 to find x you need to ...

Locate the Engine Tag / Plate... (this is for Ford Engines)
    • It can be near the coil, where the bolts secure it.
    • by/under the oil dipstick tube
    • under heat indicator bulb
    • under the stud attaching carburetor (this is for larger engines)
There will be a long number on it.
And it will start with an Alpha Character...
    • 1st position - Probably not an "A"... but this letter designates the "Decade" in which the engine was built.
      • "B" = 1950's, C = 1960's, etc
    • 2nd position - will be a numeral from 0 - 9 and this designates the year (1st to 10th) of the above decade it was built.
    • 3rd position - Basic design of the Vehicle
      • example: A - Generic engine, full size, E or T - Truck, L - Lincoln, M - Mercury, and for you car buffs... O - '67-'76 Torino's and all Fairlanes, Z - Mustangs,
    • 4th position - Almost always an E - meaning made by the Engine Design Team (which Design Team? Engine design team)
    • And the last 4 positions are the part number of that engine
Just for fun, this is a cool site...

Where is the engine number located on the car?

The VIN is visible from the windshield on the driver's side on a metal tab. The number contains information such as paint color, trim level, manufacture date, engine type, etc. Tge VIN is stamped on various other locations - depending on the year, make and model of the car.

When was Sauer 38h serial no. 5091xx mafg?

As near as I can determine the 1st number of the serial number is the last digit of the year zit was manufactured 2 -1942 3 - 1943 etc. Which would make your guns manufacture date 1945.
This is a best guess. 1945 was the end of W.W. I I and a lot of records were lost or destroyed making it difficult, at best, to deter mine manufacture date.

I have a 1996 nissan truck, the d21 series engine. I went to two different parts stores to find that the thermostat for that engine was larger than the one I removed from my truck. Everything is telling...

the d21 had probably 12 variations of the engine over 10 years, go to a nissan dealership armed with the serial number and date of manufacture if you want the correct therostat.

Where is the engine number located?

Engine numbers are cast into the block, with all manufacturers finding new ways to hide them. Typically you can find the number on the rear of the engine ( the hardest place to look). The cylinder head also has a cast number on it and those are usually easier to find, commonly being on 1 of the vertical sides or end, although sometimes it is hidden under the valve cover. The head casting should help to ID the engine manufacture date, if that is what you're after. Spraying a rag with carb cleaner and wiping down possible locations will help to highlight the cast number you re looking for. Not all mfrs used cast numbers - some use punch pins to indent the number in the same basic locations and the carb cleaner will help to find those too.

    1994 Geo Metro manufacture date

Most cars that I've seen have a decal in the driver's door jamb, either on the door or the car's body, which shows a month and year of manufacture. If not there, check the passenger side jamb. If neither side has the decal, you can call the dealership and ask them to tell you the build date by looking it up using your VIN number.
