Check for vacuum leaks . Check for power valve operation . check for choke closing on acceleration. Check timing. Check for coil failing or condenser in distributor failing I would replace the condenser first as it will allow the engine to start but fails at revs.

SOURCE: ran out of gas-truck won't start-replaced fuel

you probably have air in the lines, if you have a carb, spray some quick start into the carb and turn it over, if it starts and then dies when the starting fluid has run out, you probably need a fuel pump, since the running of the car should have blown out any air that was in the line, If your car is fuel injected, loosen the bolt cap at the end of the injector line that supplies the fuel,, and tap the key once,, ( don't start it,, ) just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this should blow fuel out of that loose bolt head, if it does your getting fuel, if not, back to the fuel pump, also you can check this link, http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1296.htm

SOURCE: 1985 corvette cranks but won't

Check to see if you have spark, if you do, and still it does not start, then you may think that fuel is not getting to it. At this point, use some starting fluid and spray it at the throttle opening. That should start it for a few seconds and give you the answer.

SOURCE: Car won't stay running

Have your fuel pressure checked sounds like it might be a clogged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump.If its not within the specs then replace the pump.If the fuel pressure is low i would replace the fuel filter first then the pump if needed.

When you start engine you have to give it gas or it won't start

replace your fuel & air filters, add some fuel injector cleaner to gas tank, todays fuel w/ ethanol is hurting your engine, change your oil also.

I have a 97 dodge stratus. It won't start. Tried

Make sure it's getting fuel. Try using some ether or starting fluid. If it rumbles to life but doesn't stay running then there's a problem with the fuel delivery system. i.e.... Fuel pump, clogged filter, pressure regulator.... If the ether doesn't change the results you are getting now then it's a fire or sensor problem. Ignition coil, relays, sensors not signaling, PCM... I wish you luck. Let us know how it turns out

Allof a sudden my 94 January xj6 won't start

So you can hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key on

May have to hold a long screw driver to tank & your ear & have
someone cycle the key

Have you checked fuel pressure?

If your not the only person going to work on this vehicle
& are going to a repair shop, then it doesn't really matter
what the issue is eg: do you have any knowledge about cars?

Message "Engine Component Requires Sevice" comes on intermittently but gives no code.

Having a car serviced, is called preventative maintenance,
oil,spark plugs,gas filter,brakes & the like

That has nothing to do with diagnosing your concerns

Checked out, is just that. Someone that doesn't know how to
diagnose your cars problems

You need to have the problem you are concerned about, actually
looked into.
That could be time consuming & costly & may even work out
better for you at a dealership
I would prefer you start with a repair shop as it is cheaper

Bottom line is that no one actually put the effort into finding the cause

A repair shop either doesn't have a data base to learn about your
car or the skills to do the job

They are not going to spend time on something, when they
can not bill you for a lot of hours, you simply won't spend the money,
so they don't fix it

My x5 3.0i 2006 t won't start this morning but temperature, gas level clock were wrong so I turn the engine off and restart a couple times it won't start and I saw message trans. false safe...

no. I'd suggest to disconnect a battery for 15 mins, reconnect, wait for 5 mins and try to restart. If it doesn't help (sometimes there's a program block to prevent stealing equipment) call a dealer
