You are right to think twice as the problem may be in the wiring and connectors or the wheel sensors. I would get second opinion from a dealer before I spent that sort of money and most parts for mazda are ex stock

the computer thing just under the motor is possibly faulty as that controls the abs. I bought a capella with no abs light on at all on start up because someone had taken out the bulb to hide the problem. Had a 2nd hand computer (sorry can not remember the right description for it) put in from a 323 and seems to be working okay? The comps are prone to getting moisture in them because of their position in the car.

SOURCE: Mazda 626 (Capella) ABS fault. I
Oxygen sensor voltage was under 0.25 volts for up to 4 1/2 minutes of closed loop operation, lean exhaust. Check the ECM wiring connections. Check for vacuum leaks at the hoses and intake manifold gasket.
Misfire Diagnosis. Check the ignition and fuel systems.
