You are right to think twice as the problem may be in the wiring and connectors or the wheel sensors. I would get second opinion from a dealer before I spent that sort of money and most parts for mazda are ex stock

SOURCE: 2000 Mazda 626. The ABS light is on all the time.

the computer thing just under the motor is possibly faulty as that controls the abs. I bought a capella with no abs light on at all on start up because someone had taken out the bulb to hide the problem. Had a 2nd hand computer (sorry can not remember the right description for it) put in from a 323 and seems to be working okay? The comps are prone to getting moisture in them because of their position in the car.

ASB Dash light stays on, what do I do and how

You need your vehicle checked with a scanner that reads ABS codes. Not all scanners can read ABS codes. Most likely it's an ABS wheel sensor that's bad. I've changed a few of them on 02 & 03 Explorers.

Good luck.

Hi, I have a 1992 Mazda capella cargo. I have just had a guy tell me the ABS is not working on the car. Firstly does it have ABS because there is no warning light on the dash. Secondly if there is ABS...

If you're not a mechanic, turn your ignition key on but don't start the car, all of your warning lights should come on. If you have ABS you should see a yellow light that says ABS, once you start the car all the light should go out within a few seconds. If you are having problems with your ABS, the yellow light should be on.

2000 Mazda 626. The ABS light is on all the time. Where are the wheel sensors located? What do they look like? I am thinking that they might just need cleaning.

That is unlikely, They are tucked inside the CV hub on the inside of the CV joints. Suggest that the vehiclke needs "scanning" as dirt cannot really get in where they are located.

PS = You may want to try disconnecting the battery for 15 min, reconnect, Sometimes works.

WARNING = Ensure your stereo code is handy to re-enter to get stereo to work. If you havnt got it do not try this.

1994 mazda capella has water pump leak ........

The general reasons for the failure of a water pump are as follows.....

1. General mechanical failure in the seal, or bearing of the water pump, due to general wear and tear, or engine having been overheated badly.

2. Over tensioning, of the drive belt, putting excess strain on the water pump bearing.

I hope this has been of help to you.

ABS, Traction control and handbrake light is on. Car was running on 3 cylinders previous to the lights coming on. 1999 Mazda SP20 Familia (323)

I have a Mazda Capella (626) 1998 and had similar problem other than it was running on 4 cylinders and the hand brake light was not on and the ANSWER was a speed sensor which is to do with ABS system needed replacing. You can determine which one is broken by putting volt meter over each of them.

Check the thermostat to make sure it is good. They are inexpensive if you just want to put a new one in. If the thermostat is bad, it will not allow the water to properly circulate. If this does not fix the problem, you will have to replace the water pump.
