Question about 2004 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

2003 Dodge Stratus Oil sending unit.

My brother in law has a 2003 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4 I know where the oil sending unit is, and I have the new one. Looking at the new sending unit it looks as if there may be a special tool to remove it. If anyone has any insight on this I would appreciate it very much. Thank-you.

I never put my hand into a dodge, but let me say that each manufacture has their own special keys for some parts on their cars. As example by a 2000 VW Jetta you won't get the throttle off the car unless you got the right tools. I think a good search in google with the name of the part you wanna get off should get you to a conclusion, else try searching youtube and watch people removing the part.

SOURCE: oil sending unit

I have heard sludge buildup can be an issue with Dodge engines in Durangos. Make sure sludge is not blocking oil flow and reducing pressure.

SOURCE: My 2004 dodge stratus died at a 4-way stop. No

Disconnect your battery and let sit for about 30 minutes. Reconnect battery, turn your key to the "on" position and wait about 7 seconds before you try to start. Listen for the hum of the fuel pump with the key on. If you don't hear anything, check fuses and wires going to fuel pump for current..

Could be a problem with the oil pump, the oil pressure sensor, clogged oil lines, or something more major.

2000 DODGE STRATUS. OIL LIGHT

I would have the oil pressure checked with a pressure gauge. Most likely you have low oil pressure. Not much you can do about this problem now. A used engine swap is probably the cheapest answer. Have it checked before buying an engine. Could have a bad wire or plug at the sending unit.

I have a 02 dodge stratus and just had the valve cover gaskets replaced and at my oil change they said they see oil leak further back on motor- maybe oil sending unit or headgasket? any ideas on what I...

usually with oil leaks, you start at the top and work down. If you know the valve covers are leaking, you start there, and see what happens. They may not have been able to clean all the old oil off if this was your first oil change after the service. If it is a 2.4l, you do most likely have a leaking head gasket as they are prone to do that about every 60-70K.

On 2.4L SOHC 4 cyl engines, the sending unit is located at the left end of the rear side of the block. On 2.5L & 3.0L V6 engines, the sending unit is located on the oil filter housing, on the front side of the block.
