Hello! I have a 1998 vw beetle and the reverse lights don't work and the check engine light stays on. I replaced both sensors anf the light went out for a few weeks and now it's back on but still runs ok....

ok first of all did you replace the bulbs for the reverse lights ?
the sensors that you replaced are they the o2 sensors or ??
and if you havent replaced the o2 sensors i would start with the one behind you catalytic converter because its most likely going to be that o2 senso or its going to mean you have a bad catalytic converter and its not doing its job right anymore.

How to replace the 2nd o2 sensor on a 1996 cavalier between the converter and muffler. step by step details please

Locate the sensor, when the engine is cold, remove the lead wire that should go into the top of the senso, unbolt the sensor with the proper box end wrench. Reinstall the new sensor in reverse order. Other than access to the sensor and perhaps it being tight, this should not be a difficult repair. It all depends on access to the sensor. Perhaps you should buy a new sensor so you know what you're looking for if you don't know where the old sensor is.
