Blue smoke is oil, probably a sign of worn rings, has it done quite high mileage?

SOURCE: 1995 ford f350 diesel white smoke or steam coming from oil cap?

Diesel Shop was correct may be blowby or may be to much pressure on your combustion chamber and it could be a head gasket going. I would do a compression check just to be safe. It's simple the cooling system check fits onto where your radiator cap goes and refer to a technical manual on your max pressure on your cooling system. I would do this just to be better off safe than sorry you know.

SOURCE: hi _ i have a problem with my ford its f-350 7.3l

check your glow plug relay (located in front of and to the passengers side of the fuel filter) with a multimeter. there will be 4 wires going to the relay two large and two small. with the key off there should be around 12 volts to the one large post and none to the other if there is none to either of the large posts there is a short somewhere between the battery and the relay. if there is voltage to one of the posts turn the key so the wait to start light comes on, and quickly go check the post that didn't have voltage. If the voltage reads below say 10 volts it is time for a new relay( napa part number gpr-109 not the original but alot cheaper been running it for almost a year now no hicups) If relay comes up ok have your batteries load tested, and if they come back clean it is probably safe to say you have more than a few bad glow plugs.

What kinda of car is it? If it's EFI then you TPS maybe bad... but the black smoke is a sign of the rings going out unless your running a diesel..

I got a tata 407 turbo but the performance is poor it also smokes black and the fuel is black can some please help

Best I can tell this is a diesel truck? I know diesel, but
depending on age could be injectors, possibly Diesel injection pump hopefully not. The fuel is black? Someone is putting old engine lubricating oil in the fuel tank. It will increase the problem of black smoke. It may also have a bad smell because of the engine oil. If the turbo is not spinning properly (high pitched whine) the bearings may be bad and it's not getting enough air into the engine. This would also explain the smoke problem. Take it to a Diesel specialist!

Black or white smoke? Black is too much fuel. Injectors or seals. White is air in the fuel system. Check the entire system for leaks

Jaguar x 2.0 Diesel Problem no power alot of black smoke coming out as you drive , now i have oil on rad and all over battery

run fault codes and look for EGR valve and pcv valve faults. Black smoke is unburnt diesel so it may be the injectors need attention. If it is a turbo then check the oil lines to the turbo and check turbo operation as it may not be producing air pressure for the engine.

My bmw 730d 2004 is blowing out alot of black smoke what does this mean?

Black smoke from the exhaust is an indication of the engine running too rich. Probably bad fuel injection system.

My 2000 maxima sounds like a diesel whats the problem

of course it won't
black smoke is excessive fuel so the place to fix is the injectors or air filter

I have a 1998 chevy 2500 4x4 6.5 diesel pu.truck starts and seems to run normal ,maybe a little loud, i heard chevy diesels this year are louder than fords etc. blows a little white smoke at startup some...

the head gaskets are blown you can believe that anytime on any engine gas or deisel that you get oil in the radiator and there water/ antifreeze in the oil pan the gaskets and or cylinder heads are bad

6.9 litre diesel losing power over last few days of driving, changed fuel filter no difference, cannot get enough speed up to allow trany to shift, bogging bad. and blowing blue when reved, not black....

Blue smoke is oil. With blue smoke and no power you should take the truck to a diesel reair shop to have it looked at. It could be that the valves need adjusting or it could be broken rings or a cracked piston, all of which are beyond the scope of online diagnosis. With a diagnosis in hand, you should pick up a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part #10330. It can help if you think you want to attempt the repairs yourself. Hope this helps.
