Nitrogen oxide is directly related to heat. Try running the test again when the engine is not that hot or try retarding the ignition timing just a few degrees.

SOURCE: timing belt 1994 nissan altima

My 1994 Altima has a timing chain on it and these are supposed to last the life of the engine. I would say unless you can really hear the problem then to leave it alone.

Try this, Since you are applying the hand brake. Manually pull up on the emergency pedal and see if the light goes out. If this does work then you could have one of several problems. but, I am thinking that you might be able to adjust the brake tensioner if this car has one.

2004 Nissan Altima 3.5L BATTERY LIGHT went on during 15 minute drive. Next day car "died" while idling after a 20 minute drive. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT & BATTERY LIGHT on prior to full electrical failure.

Start with checking the alternator voltage with a multimeter. With the car off check the voltage in the battery which should be holding 12v charged less if flat of course then start the car and test the battery again. If the alternator is good you should be getting a reading of 14 to 14.5 v if it's the alternator it'll A) not put any charge into the battery or B) be a very low voltage being anything under 13.5 v

My. 94 Nissan altima suddenly starting running

Sounds pretty terminal. Get a good DIY person to help because it could be anything from a head gasket blown to a major breakage of something. Head gasket will show up with a compression test, as will oil in the water or water in the oil. Anything mechanical will mean you have to get the tools out.

Valves are blown or timing belt skipped a gear. Get a compression tester.

No compression

Obviously if the cam spins is not the crank thats broken. You could have a broken cam which you can verify by removing the valve cover. No compression in any of the cylinders?

Car just died while driving it. It has sprark and you can hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on. but it will not start

you might have just broke the timing belt you can take a spark plug out and see if the is compression in the engine by covering the hole with youre thumb and having someone turn the engine over if it has compression it will push youre thumb off the spark plug hole if it doesnt id bet its the timing belt

When driving the radio died then the car died wouldnt start again wont even turn over

It sounds like your alternator went bad. The alternator is responsible for keeping your battery charged and at full power. If it goes bad, your battery eventually drains and things start to shut down.
Get your alternator and battery tested, I'm sure you'll find the alternator has died.

1998 nissan altima has low compression on one cylynder

Might be a bad cylinder head gasket at this cylinder. A radiator compression test can find the problem. Might be a bad valve, or a frozen (stuck) piston ring, or broken piston ring. To isolate the problem to the valves or rings, you have to add a little 30 weight oil inside cylinder through spark plug hole. Repeat the compression test. The oil temporarily seals the piston rings. IF the compression is still low then you have a bad valve. Good luck.

Oil is leaking getting into the cylinders which is being burnt which is causing the white smoke from the exhaust. You might have compression problems or worn valves.
