Question about 1998 Toyota Camry
My toyota camry wont start it cranks and gets fuel but wont fire up what could this be
Remove the distributor cap and check for corrosion on the points or carbon tracking lines inside the cap...most likely needs a full tune up being plugs, wires, cap and rotor

Go to your nearest Toyota dealer. Purchase this part number: 77360-22020; approx 4 dollars.
Open the fuel door. Being careful, remove the leftover plastic that is hooked by the door hinge. Insert the new spring assembly under the slot, and press it in until it clicks into place. Very easy to do.
Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.

same thing happened to my sons' Aries. we replaced timing belt and everything worked great> to confirm broken timing belt, remove valve cover >crank engine over and watch valve train, no movement= broken belt. you can check tech manual but as previously stated if this is not an interferance engine, cranking engine won't run a piston into an open valve. good luck.

Check for electric pulses to the injectors.
You can either buy a plug in checker for the injectors OR take a single led and bend the leads to fit into an injector plug and crank the motor and look to see if the led lights up. No lights? You have an issue with the crank signal or the ecu. Run a test of the ecu with an obd 2 scanner and see if you have any codes.
Your fuel pump may be working...bit if it isn't making enough pressure it won't matter....might as well check the fuel line pressure too.
Good luck and be careful!

Have the techn check out the neutral safety switch and manual shift valve of the shifter portion of transmission.either one of these can cause your problem.
