1998 toyota celica ttransmission when cold shifts ok. After warming shifts like over drive goes on and off and looses reverse

When a transmission is hot is usually when the problems are noticed. Is the fluid level low? Is it brown or black in color? Does it smell burnt? These are all indications of a problem - some worse than others. If topping off to the correct level, you may have more serious issues. You might want to have the fluid / filter serviced or changed if it has been a while - but a well neglected transmission will not likely come back to life by doing the fluid and filter service. Good luck!

My car recently got checked and apparently my transmission fluid has a leak. I don't have money to fix it right now. My question is is it too dangerous to keep driving until I can fix it and would a strong...

I would say that it is ok to drive, but keep tranny fluid up where it belongs. if low on fluid the tranny may start slipping in gear. the smell may be tranny fluid on hot engine. if it leaks a lot do not drive it. if it leaks a little just keep fluid level up there. just keep checking it after you drive. good-luck!!

How do I check my tranny fluid on my 01 Subaru Impreza?

I assume you have the 4 speed auto and that it is red auto transmission fluid which is leaking.

You obviously have a leak from the transmission itself, or from a transmission fluid hose, which must be identified and fixed urgently. The leaking fluid is no doubt coming into contact with the hot exhaust system (often by blow back) which will give you a burning fluid smell.

You must ensure you check the transmission fluid level immediately and top it up with the correct spec fluid. Otherwise the transmission will malfunction if very low on fluid and you will potentially damage it.

You need to need to get the vehicle to a Subaru dealer for service or to a competent/reputable auto transmission specialist to have the leak identified and fixed as soon as possible.

My 2004 Envoy does not seem to shift right on the highway

With the limited information you provided, it would be a good idea to bring your Envoy to a transmission shop for analysis. Most general repair shops and even many dealers do not do this work because it is so specialized. Bringing it directly to a transmission shop yourself will save the "mark up" charged by general repair shops.

You can expect problems with the transmission if you do not have it serviced regularly. Problems can be intensified if you pull a trailer, drive in hot, dusty areas, or do a lot of stop and go driving and do not perform the scheduled maintenance.

Sometimes, low fluid level can be a source of the problem and other times a change of fluid can solve the problem - but not as often as one would hope. Check the fluid level on the dipstick. Add enough fluid to bring it to the correct level. The fluid should be pinkish/red in color, but will likely be darker if it has been in for a long time. Regardless of color, the fluid should not smell burnt. An improperly shifting / slipping transmission coupled with burnt smelling fluid is an indicator of a potential expensive transmission rebuild on the horizon.

Good luck!

Transmission fluid, power steering fluid leak cause burnt smell?

The smell you are probably smelling is the fluids that are leaking hitting something hot like the exaust. Unless the leaks are so severe that it takes constant refilling then you should be ok. But be aware that when yu have leaking parts that you must regularly check those fluid levels. Them leaking wont cause major damage, but you not keeping the fluid levels up will. I had a tranny leask in my van for a 1 1/2 and thought it was a expensive fix, but I ended up fixing my leak for about 6 bucks. My point is, check your fluids once a day if not more depending on the severity of the leak.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sport will not go forward in drive

whats the fluid smell like? when was the last time it was serviced? where is fluid on stick when hot? low on fluid could do what you discribed, but chances are trans needs rebuilt. if fluid smells burnt, rebuild or replacement.
