Jaguar: 310-775-2089 ~ Jaguar Water Pump Repair West Los ...****, This is NOTHING about replace a Damn Water Pump you Dummy.
What you are describing is the beginning of water pump failure. That little hole is called the weep hole and if coolant comes out that means the pump is failing.
YOU HAVE TO REMOVE TIMING BELT AND IDLER PULLEY.YOU NEED TO REPLACE TIMING BELT WHEN YOU REPLACE WATER PUMP.TO REPLACE WATER PUMP. DRAIN COOLANT SYSTEM.REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE.REMOVE TIMING BELT AND IDLER PULLEY.UNBOLT AND REMOVE THE WATER PUMP.CLEAN ANY GASKET MATERIAL OR SEALANT RESIDUE FROM THE WATER PUMP MATING SEALING SURFACES.WHEN INSTALLING NEW WATER PUMP BESURE TO USE A SEALANT ON BOTH SIDES OF WATER PUMP GASKET TO KEEP IT FROM LEAKING COOLANT.TORQUE WATER PUMP BOLTS TO 13 FT LBS IN A TWO STEP CRISSCROSS SEQUENCE.INSTALL THE IDLER PULLEY.TIGHTEN THE MOUNTING BOLT TO 31 FT LBS.INSTALL AND TENSION THE TIMING BELT.INSTALL THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE.REFILL BLEED THE COOLANT SYSTEM.
WATER PUMP FAILURE COULD BE CAUSED BY WRONG COOLANT USE DEX COOL ANTI FREEZE.REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND BOTH RADIATOR HOSES TOP HOSE AND BOTTOM HOSE.SOFT HOSES COLAPSE LIKE PUMP HOSE.IT WILL COLAPSE FROM PUMP VACUUM CLOSING OFF SOME COOLANT FLOW.MAKE THE HEATER CORE NOT STOPPED UP IF SO IT WILL RESTRICT WATER PUMP BYPASS CAUSE EARLY PUMP FAILURE.YOU NEED 50/50 COOLANT MIXTURE YOU HALF WATER AND HALF DEX COOL DONT USE GREEN ANTI FREEZE USE ORANGE DEX COOL.I HAVE 3.4L ENGINE AND 3.1L ENGINE BEEN USING DEX COOL ANTI FREEZE SINCE I HAD BOTH VECHICLES. HAD NO WATER PUMP PROBLEMS.
This could have several causes. Is the coolant tank full? Is the coolant relatively fresh and a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze? Does the heat gauge jump up to hot and then fall back rapidly at some point or just rise and keep climbing? If so, it is the thermostat. Is there a leak evident under the car? If so, it could be a bad water pump. The water pump has a small weep hole and if there is water at that point the pump needs to be replaced. If none of this is the cause, then it could be a plugged radiator or a faulty cap located on the radiator or the coolant overflow tank.
You need to locate the water pump. It is turned by a fan belt. There should be water hoses running into and out of the pump. Water pumps have a weep hole that leaks water when the pump starts to fail. It is usually hard to see as it is behind the pulley for the fan belt. If you're seeing a leak in this area it is a pretty good chance that the pump is bad and needs replaced.
a good mechanic would have replaced the thermostat when he did the water pump.
May not even have been the water pump in the first place.
Car may have a vapour lock under the thermostat from leting the coolant out when replacing the water pump , and not filling and bleeding the system correctly.
Thermostat won't open if no hot coolant can get to it.
1.Drain the coolant and disconnect the coolant outlet pipe connection hose from the coolant pump.2.Remove the drive belt and engine coolant pump pulley.3.Remove the timing belt covers and the timing belt idler.4.Remove the coolant pump mounting bolts, then remove the generator brace.5.Remove the coolant pump assembly from the cylinder block.See an exploded view:
