Question about Cars & Trucks
When l am at a stop sign or robot it gives out high raves and then at times engine stops idling.l then remove the connection to the timing switch and l start the car and it starts.it moves for a short period then it does not have power.even if l accelerate it will not respond.l then replace the conection to the timing switch and it will start and accellerate until l reach home.At times it shows the EXH TEMP red warning light on.the car stops even when the temperature is on normal btwn 80 and less than 90'C.Then l have to open bonnet again and repeat the process again.Even when fuel is full tank. One mechanic told me that l needed a new timing switch.Could this be the problem

Have someone handy to press the gas pedal for you after the engine has warmed up well; best if driven.
While you listen at the exhaust pipe, have your helper increase the revs slowly and note whether the exhaust note changes to a hiss, instead of the sound of an engine firing.
You may have a decayed catalytic convertor and when they come apart inside, they can clog mufflers and resonators (the second, smaller muffler).
I've had this happen on more than one car and when it happened on a Fiat Strada years ago, since the routing of the system was fairly straight and made of heavier gauge stainless steel, I fired two shots with a .357 magnum into the tailpipe.
Never had another problem with it.

did you use aftermarket crank sensor? if so that might be your problem. dealer has several different ones, by providing vin number, but there is only one after market for all optimas 01-05. try to connect thick pink wire and thick orange wire together on the ignition failure sensor. you might have the same problem as me. good luck.

Sounds like your O2 sensor is malfunctioning. When the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into a preset mode bypassing the O2 sensor and that's why it suddenly runs good. Have the O2 sensor checked. You can also have the trouble codes read and they should point you in the same direction.

I had the same problem of loss of power with my Rexton E320, especially at low speed , I changed the plugs but the problem could not go away, until I changed the fuel filter and that problem is gone. I have made a lot of kms now without any such problem, try that, it might work.
