Troubleshooting a low whine on a 94 s-10 v6

Truck: 1994 S-10 4.3L V6 with CPI Most Recent Changes: Replaced air filter, alternator, steering pump line, and S.belt. Problem: Started noticing a low pitched whine from the front that gets louder with acceleration but decreases when the AT shifts gears. Almost sounds like a belt whine but not as high pitched. Basically makes my little truck sound much bigger than it really is so it isn't much of a problem, just want to know why it is happening...Any ideas?

SOURCE: getting a high pitched whining sound that increases and decreases with accelleration and decelleration

it is your idler pulley. get it from dealer comes with bracket, just use pulley off bracket. take your belt off and your idler pulley is lower right hand side(facing your engine). 15mm bolt, replace pulley and reinstall your belt. it;s a common problem on trailblazers

Where is the PCV Valve located on a 1993 Cutlass Ciera S with 3.3 V6?

The PCV filter is located in the air cleaner housing and must be replaced every 50,000 miles (80,000 km).

  1. Remove the air cleaner housing lid.
  2. Slide back the filter retaining clip and remove the old filter.
  3. Install the new filter, replace the retaining clip and replace the housing lid.

Can a dirty Air cleaner filter cause the engine to make a whine noise at low rpms. It goes away and cannot hear it had higher speeds.

pull air filter out and start car. does it whine? that should answer that question. i think its a pulley, power steer pump, water pump, idler tension. while engine is running be very careful and try to listen and look at any of those and see if any wobble or squeal, also make sure the belts are tightened and not slipping on alternator pulley. also could be the alternator whinning.with the hood up and car at cold idle i'm sure you will be able to diagnose.

Power steering makes noise that changes with the speed of the car. The power steering goes out during any rain event. 150,000 miles, original engine.

If the P/S pump is not low of fluid and you have not just recently added P/S fluid then the pump needs replacing. If you recently added fluid to the pump and it was low it may have air in the system. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel fully to the right and fully to the left 10 times. This will remove any trapped air.

I have a high pitched noise which appears to be coming from front right engine compartment (as you are looking at the engine) which sounds kind of like a belt that is squealing. It is intermittent. Just...

Could be several things. WHICH ENGINE?.. 4 cylinder (has three belts, power steering/water pump, alternator & A/C compressor, one tensioner pully A/C compressor), The V6 2.7 (has only one belt, 1 Idler pully and 1 tensioner pully), the V6 3.5 has two belts - A/C/alternator, and power steering - there are two tensioner pullys). Noises can be caused by the belt(s) themselves, pullys, bearings, pully bearings, water pump shaft bearings (or belts/pullys rubbing up against something). Let's not forget that there is also belt(s) behind the Timing Belt cover as well as pullys and bearings associated with the timing system. You could start by removing one accy drive belt at a time (alternator, water pump, compressor, power steering, etc) to see whether or not the noise goes away in each case. If after each case, you discover the noise is still there, it's probably behind the timing belt cover (idler/tensioner pully, water pump shaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, etc.). Good Luck

Blower PROBLEMS. Whining noises as well.

Your blower motor could have a bad switchc or speed relay.
Your AC compressor, you can just replace the bearing to the clutch to save you some money.
The whining noise could be your front pump to your transmission. Check your transmission fluid and see if it's burnt. A cloged Transmission filter would do the same thing and lack of fuild. If you are going to have the fluid and filter changed have the servors upgraded to corvette servos. The part is under $45.00 and help's your transmission.,com_tech_article/Itemid,/item,6/task,item/
Good luck and you may be right about the front brakes.

Power Steering Pump on 01 v6 santa fe

Sure sounds like its low of fluid or the filter is very dirty! My guess is that it works well driving straight open road. Most often the filter is inside the pump. Frankster016
