Battery light and furl gauge

Hi my g1 battery light, fuel guage doesnt come on when i put the ignition on, if i start the car and put my brights on the light on the dash doesnt come as well, now my battery isnt charging due to this..i checked the cluster and fuses everythings fine..what could be the cause of this ?

Polo Coupe 1043,1992, Will not start, can be bumped started, sometimes!!, theres a strange clicking noise from under the air box, when the ignition is on and sometimes the oil pressure light comes on when the car gets upto temperature, then I lose all power and then the engine cuts out. I've recently changed the dizzy cap, rotor arm and battery, all the leads are new ish along with the spark plugs. The previous owner has changed the head and done all that, leaving much of the engine loom unlagged and bare. Could this cause a problem on some of the electrical systems?

Change the fuel filter a gain you may just got dirty or bad fuel. Also check and replace the air filter TDI need a lot of air.

if you have a Digital Voltmeter hook it up to the battery , turn the car on and see how many volts its putting out with and without accessories. As a guide line 13.5 to 14.5 volts anything below these numbers the alternator or the wiring behind it is faulty. if the voltage is highrer than approx 14.5 volts its the voltage regulator(which is the worse of two evils)
replace this asap either way. Whomever does the replacement should check out the battery. These cars are very sensitive IF YOUR GOING AFTERMARKET ON THE REGULATOR MAKE SURE ITS CARRIES THE AMPS NEEDED TO RUN YOUR VEHICLE.

2000 jeep grand cherokee will not start and battery guage is dead


if the other light is ok and the fuel gauge is only dead, may be you have no more fuel, try to refill fuel, if the battery is also dead replace new battery.

Dashlights and high beams wont come on


Play with the ignition switch,If you can disable the starter when the engine is running and can do it in a very safe manner,this way you can turn the ignition and check to see if a ignition electrical part is failing, If you cant disable the starter just be careful how you turn the ignition you are only ruling out the ignition switch electrical part as possible problem or even the solution

disconnect the neg batt cable and bridge it with a test light, it should light up and dim after a few seconds, if it stays bright you have a short in one or more circuits, pull each fuse one at a time to see if you can locate which circuit, good luck

My jeep won;t start but wil turn over like normal, also the fuel gauge does not work or the battery gauge and all were working when i park it . came out in the morning to go to work and nothing worked


Hi, it sounds like you dont have any power to the fuel pump or the sending unit, turn the key to the "on" or run position and listen to see if you hear a humming noise. if you do not this means the fuel pump is not working, first check the fuses for the fuel pump. this should be under the hood in the fuse compartment. the battery guage doesnt work because the car is not running and charging the battery and will go up when the car starts. If the fuse is not blown you may have to replace the fuel pump.

Fuel gauge inaccurate & warning light always on.


Hi. the inaccurate fuel gauge is easily fixed by replacing the fuel guage sending unit that is located in the fuel tank. this sending unit sends the appropriate signal the the gauge on the dash. all calculations are configured by the sending unit and if this device is malfunctioning, it will not send an accurate reading to the fuel gauge. simply replacing this device will fix the fuel guage issue you are having at this time.

Concerning the Amp drain after two days. this is caused by some sort of energy drain that can be in a faulty vacuum pump that isn't shutting off or, some sort of defect in the ECM. you could also have a faulty fuel pump relay that isn't shutting of and this will slowly drain energy from the battery within a two day period as well.

You can narrow down the battery drain by using a volt meter(needle) or multimeter. open the fuse box located on the drivers side below the dash. pull the fuse box door and expose the entire fuse box. you will need to pull each individual fuse independently to test if the actual slot is being used with the ignition switch in the off position.

Use the fuse slots contact prongs for testing the current level if any. with the ignition switch off, test all slots for live current feed. each slot that is dead is not affected and you may reinsert the respective fuse but, if you run across a live slot that is receiving a current while the ignition switch is in the off position, this specific slot will be the affected device that is draining the battery.

Test all fuse box slot accordingly. you will find the drain with this procedure.

94 sunbird will not start


Remove the smaller gauge wire from the solenoid, and put your test light on it while the ignition switch is being pushed into the "start" position. If the light turns on, the solenoid has gone bad.

Will not start, no dash gauges light except "low gas level"


I have a '99 dodge dakota, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual. While researching a no start problem ran across possible solution to this problem. If no guage lights show when key truned to on position then normally a bad ignition switch. With fully charged battery and working ignition switch guage lights should slight up then go out when ignition in "on" position. Try shaking the key back and forth.
