From what Im reading it requires 20ounces of refrigerant and 5 ounces of oil. But you may need to install a dryer and filter.

Recharge ac r134a freon

There should be a sticker on the hood, radiator support, or hvac housing with the capacity.
If the system is empty and you have pulled a vac, I would start with 4 cans and then add as needed.

How much oil is required for a new AC compressor 91 ford ranger, 3.0, the system is completely empty, (replacing compressor, no oil in it)

System 7 to 9 oz

Condenser 1 oz
Dryer or Accumulator 1 0z
Evaporator 3 oz
Compressor 3 to 4 oz

On most vehicles

You have a big problem---no R12 has been avail for the
last 15 years

SO-- you need to flush every component of mineral oil
& replace with ester or pag, then switch to R134A refrigerant

That may require a compressor built for those pressures &
"o" rings such as the green ones

Need to research what your doing

What freon goes in air condition?

This car originally contained R12, if you can find it you can use it. The other option if this has not already happened is you can convert the system from R12 to R134a, which is readily available, all auto part stores carry these kits. R12 AC fitting are threaded and R134a systems have slip on quick connect fittings.

Im working on a1988 Cadilac deville , replaced ac compressor , accumlator , orfus tube . i also vaccumed the system , reset computer . started car filled with 134a . worked fine till i drove for bout 1mi ....

Your have a low refrigerant level. Econ staying on and service ac will stay on too. Sounds like you didnt put enough r134a in the system. How much r134a did you add? Capacity is 38 ounces(thats
with R12), and a bit less than that for r134a.

I converted my ac to 134a and now the compressor clicks on for 5 sec and shuts off

If your ac system was r12 and you converted the system to r134a, without pulling the freon or flushing
the ac system, r12 and r134a freon gases will not mix they will gell and clog up your system. good luck!

How do I remove the Ac oil in my 89 corvette when switching from freon to 134 . How much should be added and where?

I have upgraded or retrofitted older cars with r134a before with the ester oil and never had any problems with the refrigerant working with the old oil, as long as you put a few ounces of the new oil in.

The kit for r134a conversion from R-12 has everything you need to upgrade without removing all of the old oil.

Of course, in the early days of r134a conversion in the early 1990s there were people who recommended that you take the whole system apart, compressor, piping, receiver drier, etc. and replace the receiver drier and dump out the old oil.

In my opinion, this is a very expensive proposition, and good to excellent air conditioning can be had by following the R134a conversion kit instructions and installing 2 or 3 cans of refrigerant into your system.

This can be done by yourself.

Watch, if you're in California, you have to return empty cans of R134a to the store because they say that it is harmful to the environment and they want to keep track of it.

Good luck staying cool with R134a.

Ac not working properly

Low on R134A or condenser has a restriction
The condenser is in front of the radiator.
The R134a systems are known for not blowing as cold during idle.

Ac won;t take freon

It might be an over sight, but is the recharge can been punctured?? With the recharge hose connected to the service port and the R134a can. close the valve and then open the valve to let the R143a empty out in the system. If you have done that and the compressor has not come on to pull the R134a out of the can, shake the can till the compressor activates to pull the R134a in to the system. In this case you may need up to thee cans, your system has a capacity of 1 pound and you only have a 12 ounce can. Good luck and don't over charge the system. Keep me posted, be glad to help.
