SOURCE: can't find mass volume air flow circuit high input

The P0113 code is the Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. This can be caused by a faulty MAF sensor, or by a problem with the wiring harness that connects to it. Check the harness first and make sure that none of the wires are broken or disconnected from the wiring clip.

The P0103 code is the Mass air flow sensor circuit high input. Since the IAT sensor is built in to the MAF sensor, it makes sense that you are getting both codes. Once again, inspect the wiring harness to the MAF sensor for damage or broken/disconnected wires.

If none of the wires are broken, you will have to do a little work to diagnose the issue, which could either be an open or shorted circuit, or a defective MAF sensor.

I have included the relevant pages from the manual.

CAUTION:
Do not use ECM ground terminals when measuring input/output voltage. Doing so may result in damage
to the ECM's transistor. Use a ground other than ECM terminals, such as the ground.

What does obd2 code p0406


The code P0406 is for Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor 'A' Circuit High. The possible causes are EGR Valve clogged, dirty or leaky, EGR valve damaged/defective, EGR sensor ground circuit open, EGR sensor signal circuit open, EGR volume control solenoid valve harness is open or shorted, EGR volume control solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection. An improper voltage signal is sent to ECM through the valve. You will have the symptoms of engine light on and engine hesitation.

Whats does the code P 1684 and P 0406 mean for a 2001 dodge intrepid?


P0406 is EGR Position Sensor Circuit High Input

P1684 is The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts

If you leave the battery connected the P1684 will go away. the P0406 is the EGR valve is sticking or the sensor that detects how far open it is has failed. You could try taking it out and cleaning it. But I would clear the codes using a code reader that has the ability to "reset" the light.

P0406 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High
An improper voltage signal is sent to ECM through the valve

Early Models : The EGR valve control the amount of exhaust gas routed to the intake manifold. Vacuum is applied to the EGR valve in response to the throttle opening. The vacuum control the movement of the taper valve connected to the vacuum diaphragm in the EGR valve.

Late Models : The EGR volume control valve uses a step motor to control the flow rate of EGR from exhaust manifold. This motor has four winding phases. It operates according to the output pulse signal of the ECM. Two windings are turned ON and OFF in sequence. Each time an ON pulse is issued, the valve opens or closes, changing the flow rate. When no change in the flow rate is needed, the ECM does not issue the pulse signal. A certain voltage signal is issued so that the valve remains at that particular opening.

- Harness or connectors (EGR volume control valve circuit is open or shorted.)
- EGR volume control solenoid valve
- EGR temperature sensor and circuit

I have these codes coming up on my 2005 Dodge Ram. 5.7 liter motor: P0406 P2096 P0137 P2299 Thank you.


code #0406 = egr position sensor circuit high ( stuck egr valve or bad egr sensor most likely sensor )

code #2096 = downstream fuel trim system lean ( see next code )

code #0137 = O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 circuit low ( replace rear O2 sensor driver side )

code #2299 = brake peddle position/accelerator pedal position incompatible. ( hav you been power braking this truck? ) ( brake light was on wile accelerator was being pushed )

P0406 is EGR position sensor circuit high input. You need to replace the EGR sensor, but it's part of the EGR valve assembly. About $80.00 for the part.

DTC P0406 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High.

You in fact do, need to replace the EGR valve. P0406 is actually EGR position sensor high code. Which means the PCM recieved a egr position sensor signal greater than 4.89 volts. For some reason the the egr on the 05 minivan had a high failure rate.

The best way to get at the lower bolt after you remove the upper bolt and the two 8mm tube screws, pry the valve rearward. This allows you to get a socket on the lower bolt.
