egr stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation.....it is a system that takes some of the exhaust gasses and recirculates it back into the intake to be re burnt, although this system is necessary for proper emission readings at your tail pipe.it will likely cause no problems with the driving of your vehicle.........the problem could be a faulty egr valve or it could be a problem in the plumbing (pipes and hoses) of the system.Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a trusted mechanics shop to have them inspect the egr system and replace the faulty parts.
hope this helps.............Good luck!

SOURCE: my jeep CRD 2.7 started to misfire at low revs in

Austrian assembled Cherokee's have a 5 cylinder 2.7 Mercedes motor. These are a serious piece of kit and put the US product to shame. Sadly they still suffer from the usual reliability issues . The worst of which is the habit of blowing the injector seals . As the engine is a tight fit and removing the rear two injectors require dropping the motor, this can be a very expensive problem and can happen as early as 40000kms. Still a great machine!!

Most manuals I found do not cover diesel engines. There is a Peter Russek manual for your truck which covers diesel engines. Click on the following link to check the manual http://www.auto-repair-manuals.com/Mitsubishi-1997-2002-L200-2WD-4WD-2-0L_2-4L-Petrol-2-5L-Diesel-Russek-Repair-Manual.html

looks like a sensor has gone or been misread if you stop the engine for awhile like for 20 min and then start up and it runs ok, would think cam sensor has overheated, you will still be able to get home as its in limp mode just means there is no advanced timing this gets turned off. so if it does stay on you will be fine to get home.

Engine power reduced chevy hhr

This is known as limp mode.....it allows you to keep driving in order to get you to a garage...but it limits the revs to protect engine from further damage...the codes help garage diagnose what is going on...have you tried googling codes..?..it may point to a faulty or clogged up sensor...another simple cause can be the accelerator link if it's electric contacts..this happened on my ford maverick in winter..and all I did was press the lever hard several times with the engine if...and the limp mode vanished.

I have a 2004 rx8 when you start it it runs great until it warms up & goes into limp mode. Turn it off & back on most of the time its fine for about a mile then back into limp mode. Please HELP

first option is to have the fault codes read
limp mode is activated by both the engine and transmission sensors
going to limp mode so quick could be an overheating problem , transmission vss/tcm problem or ECM fault
by reading the fault codes , you will get a better idea of the problem

Merc vito 2001 engine goes into limp mode but resets when turned off

The first thing that need to be done here is to have the fault code(s) read that are recorded in the computer's memory (PCM) when this happens. Do not keep driving the car or you will damage the engine and/or the transmission.

How do I reset limp mode on 100 series toyota landcruiser petrol?

d/c battery for a spell. then reconnect it and stat up without touching the accelerator pedal. Let it idle and warm up and then drive it normally. If no help then consult check engine codes to see what caused it to go into limp mode.

On my 02 elantra once the engine is warmed up it will not rev up when i push the gas what can cause this

It sounds like your engine is going into the 'limp home' mode, indicating there is a significant emissions equipment malfunction. Is the 'check engine' light on? You can take the car to a decent Auto Parts Store (O'reilly, Autozone, etc) and they will scan for the error code and reset the 'light' and get the car out of 'limp home' if the fault was intermittent. If the light comes back on, the malfunction has to be repaired. Literally dozens of minor malfunctions will cause this. The Federal Emissions Standard laws REQUIRE the 'limp home' mode when the malfunction will cause a significant increase in emissions. The problem could be a loose gas cap or loose vacuum line etc. MAJOR component failures are rare.

How do you get computer out of limp mode

The idea is to replace /repair the reason that the CPU went into limp mode . Once you have run the fault codes and done the repairs the use a code reader to reset the CPU.

When I accelerate hard to pass my check engine light comes on and the vehicle goes into limp home mode.

Get the vehicle looked at by a garage. The reason it goes into limp home mode is to protect the engine from further damage. The reason the check engine light comes on is because the engine needs checking with some urgency.
