The system has to be bled, starting with the farthest wheel from the master brake cylinder, then the next etc. Till you get all four done. Then the booster has to be set properly. It is a critical adjustment.

SOURCE: 1996 PLYMOUTH VOYAGER SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AIR IN LINES

I am a hydraulic technician and I can tell you that air is a killer in the hydraulic system.

Start from the rear and work your way forward. I f you are using the two person method, make sure the second person keeps the master cylinder full. If the fluid level dropped anywhere in between pressing and releasing the brakes....you have a lot of air in the system.

Make sure you are tightening the bleed valve when the brake pedal is full pressed.

Remeber...start from the rear brakes first, then do the front.

SOURCE: just replaced master cylinder on 1990 aerostar and bled the brakes, still the pedal goes to floor and i have no brakes

Did you bench bleed the master cyl. before installing it? then when you installed the new master, did you bleed all 4 points? If yes, then check all for points for leaking caliper/s and leaking wheel cylinder/s. If the van has ABS, check the valve body for a bleeder screw and see if air bleeds out of it. If you've checked everything twice and did everything right then your new master cyl. may be defective.

SOURCE: Fiat Uno Pacer - Brake Booster not assist braking

it could be that the master cylinder is bad or the brake booster is bad also check the vacum hose going to the brake booster if it has a hole in it it will lose pressure and make the engine lose rpms

sounds like your antilock system needs some attention the sensors on the hubs could be dirty or the front sensor located on the master cylender could be faulty or unpluged

Abs light comes on & stays on. no brake one time, replaced master cylinder@Midas. light still comes on & brake pedal somestimes goes close to floor . kind of spongy

Your brake pedal needs adjusting! And your brakes need to be replaced! Did the people @ midas look for any air bubbles while they replaced the Master cylinder? Did they get them out? Did they even look at the brakes? All of them?

If you have a bad booster you would have a really hard pedal and it would take two feet to stop. Sounds more like a fluid leak or a bad master cylinder. Are you adding fluid or do you have a red brake light on?
