Should not have to do that. The pump is in the fuel tank.

How to prime fuel syystem on Case IH model 40 compact tractor

Every primer I have found is at the fuel filter. All the others, I opened an injector fuel line. Crank it till fuel comes out. Then it will start, Takes a minute, but will.

Diesel fuel system

I would be looking for a collapsed or broken fuel line. Sometimes the rubber hose they use to connect lines together will separate on the inside and when you try to pull fuel through, it collapses. You could also have a problem inside the tank. The lift pump itself could be bad.
You could splice an aftermarket electric fuel pump in the lines and let it prime the system.

12ht wont prime

filling the filters before installing will make priming go more quickly.
once the pump is primed crack open the fuse line at the injector while cranking until you have fuel pulsing out, close it then move on to the next injector.
keep doing this until the engine runs smoothly.
it may start running before all the injectors have been purged so keep clear of all moving parts and a fire extinguisher handy would be a good idea.

Replaced fuel pump and cant get fuel lines to prime

There is no priming to do

If the injectors are working, any air
in the lines comes out into the cylinders,
then the fuel & your good to go

The fuel pump will push out any air with the fuel

Does the pump come on for 3 seconds with key on?

Do you have fuel pressure on a gauge at the motor?
You can push the button on the gauge to bleed off your air

Isuzu kb 280 dt got a fuel starvation problem after it stands for a few days, when i pump the prime pump on top of fuel filter the problem is gon.

It could either be a fuel pipe between your prime pump and injector pump that sucks air so your diesel flows back into your fuel tank. Or you need to replace the prime pump. There is a rubber diaphragm in the prime pump that gets worn. Unfortunately need to buy a new prime pump. A simple sollution is to fit a non return valve to your fuel line. That need to be connected between the prime pump and fuel tank. Hope it helps. Blessings

2001 honda passport not getting fuel

First off, do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn on the key. Should hear a light buzzing from the fuel tank for approx. 5 seconds. Have you opened the pressure line or the pressure test port on the fuel line on top of the engine to see if you are getting any fuel even trickling out especially during the priming. Pressure should be in the neighborhood of 45-50 psi for the system. A fuel pump can slowly fail, by losing pressure, but still can move some fuel if you hear it running oon the prime cycle. You can often borrow a fuel pressure guage from your local chain auto parts store to actually see what's goin on with the fuel system. You hook it up to the test port on the fuel rail and watch the pressure on the prime cycle. If it is very low, try priming the system 3 or 4 times to see if pressure builds, if not that would lead to testing the pressure regulator. But that's for next time.
