Engine stalls when opperateing all fuctions also can not get pump yo go to limp mode

The best $100 dollars I ever spent car repairing is a OBDII scanner. This lets you diagnose your own problem. Even if you can't fix it you can direct your mechanic. I am not familiar with code 1630 on your Mercedes.

At the time you made all the above repairs, did you replace the "throw away" turbo charger? The turbo charger commonly sucks oil, and it is not repairable.

Run it without the inner & outer air cleaner. If it isn't the turbo, run the injector cut out test. If the injectors are ok, then you need to replace the injection system hydraulic pump, which is also unrepairable.

Reduced power (AKA "Limp" mode) is activated when a serious problem exists in the engine or the transmission, you need the system scanned to see what is causing the system to put your car in Limp Home Mode.

2000 contour, rplaced fuel pump(3 times) car starts will go to 10-15mph then stalls to idle. any ideas


How many miles are on the car. It sounds like it is going into limp home mode in the computer. If that is the problem you may have a catalytic converter that is plugged or nearly plugged. If the cat gets plugged if won't allow fuel to be pulled into the engine and causes it to stall. Have you ran a scanner on the car to check for trouble codes.

Rear washer motor is working on my vitara but no water comes out.and also the engine goes into limp mode if you stop turn the engine off it runs ok


washer jets could be blocked try a drawing pin to clean them. As for limp mode you should have engine management light on if you do use obd scanner for fault code.

No power over 40 mph


Known as Limp mode.you have to get a garage to run diagnostics in this scenario.it could be anything from fuel ,electrical exhaust and any fault will be stored in the ECU on board .the engine management light usually flashes when cars go into limp mode.
its the yellow icon on dashboard.one time I had an electronic throttle linkage play up every time it rained and a few hard pumps put the car back out of limp mode.your next move is to get it to a garage who can run on board diagnostics to pinpoint the cause via the error codes that show during the tests.limp mode is to protect further damage to engine but allow you to get it yo a garage or home.

Do you have an engine light on? It sound like it is in limp mode which limits rpm and speed

Try putting the ignition key to on position then disconnect the negative he key still on reconnect the battery, this may re-boot the system....Good-luck....

No reverse only drives for 30 seconds limp mode???? please help!


P1388 = Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay control circuit open or shorted.
The ASD relay routes battery power to the ignition coils, and is energized by the PCM as long as it receives signals from both the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. If the engine stops turning (stalls), the PCM deengerizes the ASD relay and shuts down the ignition system. The ASD relay also supplies battery voltage to the fuel injectors, so when it shuts down it cuts off both ignition and fuel. At the same time, the PCM also deenergizes the fuel pump relay to turn off the fuel pump. For "limp in" capability, the Chrysler system can run with input from the crankshaft position sensor only. The ASD and fuel pump relays are both located in the Power Distribution Center.

Transmission stoped shifting from 3rd to overdrive


Your transmission is on limp mode and will not shift in to your 4th gear. Have it scaned and see what triggered the limp mode, Your can try resetting your ecm buy turning your ignition to the run postion and pulling the ecu fuse out for 5 sec and re-installing it. You'll hear the fuel pump buzz and then try starting it. Note the truck may start then stalls but let it, just start it up again and your should be fine. The ecm is recalibrating the it self again like the first day it was started. That should clear any limp mode for not. Good luck and get it scaned, could be as simple as a bad battery ground.
