1969 Chevy c10 3 speed conversion to floor shifter

I was wanting to know if it was possible to convert my 3 on the tree to a floor shifter. I just got the truck today and absolutely hate the column shifter. If possible could you please include what would be required and also where to find the parts. Thanks

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: 3 speed shifter conversion

I have the same problem on a 65 c10 3 speed. Nothing is wrong with the mechanism, use the brackets from the kit and/or bend the original ones (they are relatively heavy gauge and will have to put them in a vise to do so). Get the rods to switch sides without colliding with each other.

The alternative i originally thought was to turn the entire shifter mechanism around, but that failed

Alternatively just leave it alone, and be the only one who knows how to drive the truck

Either the pin that connects rod to tranny is broken off, or there is internal transmission problems.

SOURCE: Just replaced shift linkage cable

Hi, Well those shift cables have a slight adjustment at the trans. When I replaced the cable on my 96 i had to adjust it slightly. But before you adjust it make sure that the cable is routed the same way that it came out, if the cable is kinked or bent in any place it can cause it to bind and not go all the way down. Hope that helps

Is it possible the transmission was not made for a Mustang ?
With the shifter on the floor, the linkage would be different than a car with the shifter on the column.
Have you contacted the company ?

What does it take to convert a 2 WD to a 4 WD. I have an automatic transmission and would like to keep it automatic. I bought it new and have 194,000 miles on it now. It runs great...I just want 4 wheel...

It's possible, but it's too much work, you can buy another truck for the amount of time and trouble you put into that one. If you had the tranny with 4wd and a blown tranny in the truck and then a parts donor, I would say, go for it. But you need a tranny, computer, front end, hole in floor, shifter, propeller shaft, not to mention tearing out the old front end and everything in there. and who knows what all else.

Check out faxonautoliterature. They can provide the original GM service manual for your truck for about $30. It should have an exploded view of your column. I've used them before and had excellent service. Hope this helps.

Shifting gears in a 69 Ford F150 column was moved to floor

Sounds like you got a mistry shifter. It might just be out of ajustment, or just plane wore out. If its an old shifter you would be money a head to buy a new one and put it in. Summit racing sells them, Heck i'am not real sure but you might be able to get one at auto zone, or napa, or advance auto. There just a phone call a way. They might even sell kits to repaire yours.

This might be a good place to start:

I don't know if you are near any larger cities but bigger public libraries often have older Chilton and sometimes factory manuals.
