Question about Cadillac DeVille
I went to smog my '99 caddy sts and it failed the smog for 2 codes: P0488 and P1258, i wanted to know if there's any temporary way to clear those codes so that I can pass until I have the cash to repair my vehicle?
You can use a code reader/coder clearer handheld device at any of the major auto dealers to clear the code. The device plugs into your dashboard on the left side of the steering wheel at the bottom.. Normally, you can clear the code and drive for about 15 minutes (maybe more if you are gentle on the gas) before the code appears again. These code readers cost about $80 to $100.

the no data error can be contributed to a bad interface cable or the scaqn tool was configured wrong and therfore could not connect to the ecm. I would recommend having a scan done again by a certiefied volkswagon tech chances are the mechanics used the wrong adapter cable or reader card. your smog problem could be that your evap canister is clogged therfore gives a bad reading.unfortunately you have to have a scan done but try an independant small shop that delas exclusively with foreign cars such as porche andd mercedez. the will have the correct scan tool and will be much cheaper than a dealership. your cost should be no more than 50 dollars US ... please rate this. thanks

Tune it up and replace the 02 sensor that keeps setting the codes bank 2 sensor 1. Have your oil and filter changed right before you go for a retest to. That will clear up 3 codes P0300, 0155 and 0154. You might have to replace the fuel sending unit to get rid of P0463 but if the gauge works OK I'd leave it alone.

Since you're asking about cost, and not about the technical details, I'll tell you that this recently happened with my wife's 1996 Olds 88, and I paid about $2,300 for a transmission rebuild. I believe that car has the same transmission as your Cutlass Supreme.
Whether you want to spend that much depends on the overall condition of the car (ours had only 50k miles) and the cost to replace it.
Of course that's the worst case scenario. If you take it to a good shop for a hands-on diagnosis, they might recommend a less expensive repair.
I had noticed the car seemed a little sluggish and occasionally shuddered just a little during a shift, but hadn't thought much about it until the light came on and the shop said it was a transmission trouble code. Performance is noticeably better after the rebuild.

ok code 0300 is a random multiple cylinder misfire. probably ignition related is my guess. i would check the coil pack and ignition module and go from there.

Working on one right now and hooked it up with a Snap On Solus scanner - It gives P0135 for 0/2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. Check the 0/'2 sensor function and replace as necessary
