SOURCE: Reverse Lights not working and engine starts on any gear

You have a reverse indicator switch on you transmission. You will need to make sure that it didn’t come unplugged or that the wire didn’t break. This is a single wire that should be close to the rear of the transmission.

Fuel pump relay switch for a 96 Mercedes-Benz E 320

I believe it is integrated in the K40 relay module in the front right engine compartment next to the ME control unit. I also believe the 97 W210 relay was moved outside of it. That fuel pump should be outside of the tank so it will be easy to test for power and ground at the pump if you are having a fuel related issue. I have replaced many more fuel pumps on these vehicles than relays. I usually replace the relay as a precautionary measure, but not because it failed. I hope this helps you.

Hi There, Newbie here... I have a mercedes benz E230 W210 (1996 model). Front inidcator lamps are gone and I cannot find them!! Opened the housing through the bonnet and checked but I can only find the H7...

The bulb holders are the smaller, usually white, twist locks directly above the large black headlight cover. It's tucked under the cross bar the bonnet catch bolts to. If there is no bulbs in there you will need the orange coated ones. If none of the indicators work check the fuses and the relay as well. Car running starter sill stays engaged blew fuse for the side veiw mirrors and reverse lamp and problem stopped, is there maybe a relay that controls the mirrors ? or reverse lights that may be sticky and...

Hi,

The problem in the starter would be the relay for the solenoid or the ignition switch that might have been stuck in the "ign" postion.

The side view mirror fuse blows might have been a faulty electrical connection on the wires leading to the side view mirror.

The reverse light, if the bulb is busted, needs only to replace. If there is a new bulb, still does not work, the reverse switch on the transmission might be broken or disconnected.

As you could see, they have connected differently.

Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for using Fixya!

Reverse lights flash on/off when car is put into reverse; Mercedes 98 E320. Also the rear center brake light does not work at all. All of the bulbs have been checked/replaced so they are not the issue.

REVERSE LIGHT PROBLEM COULD BE LOOSE WIRES OR FAULTY TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR.THE REAR CENTER BRAKE LIGHT COULD HAVE FAULTY BULB SOCKET OR GROUND WIRE AND THE CONTROL MODULE THAT CONTROLS IT CIRCUIT.
