He may have locked up the pin sequence. You might need to buy a new switch not that exspensive. Stay away from the dealership or it will be.

Want to bypass your vehicle security system?
The short answer is you can't!

All modern cars have alarms and immobilizers. There is a chip in the key and a chip in the ignition lock. If both are present, the ECM (engine control module) releases power to the ignition circuit. When you turn the key, the starter spins the engine and you get a spark. If any one of those three items are not in the chain, you get the engine to turn, but no spark. There is no way to beat the system. You have to fix what is wrong, not find a way around it.

The immobilizer is in place to stop exactly what you are trying to do.

have you had the chip tested in the key would start there first. you should be able to put an ob2 reader on the car as long as the key turns the ignition and the lights on the dash come on. just will not bypass the immobilizer, but you should be able to find out if the ecu is at fault or alarm. the alarm and immobilizer are linked. they then open the ecu so the engine can be started.

How do i bypass the theft sercurity in my ignition because i changed my ignition out to a regular ignition and key without a chip

The security system is still looking for that signal from the chip. That's why you are not starting. Go to this link, should have all the info you need to bypass that.

Lost 1995 keys to 1995 cadillac eldorado. How can i obtain w/o spending 100's

This car key has the VATS security chip in it. These keys are at least 100 bucks. You can rip into the ignition part and start the car with the wires, but it wont work untill you bypass the SECURITY system. Here is a link about the security. Gives you the 15 possible key chip codes and links to help bypass this system.

My 1997 chevy cavalier has a problems that seems to get worse and worse. The anti theft system continues to act up. I try doing the "ten minute" method where I Leave the car in the on position...

The problem is not your computer. The problem is a defective PassLock cylinder. It is not reading your key correctly. The lock cylinder for your ignition reads a chip in your key and sends a digital signal to the computer to let the computer know that a valid key is being used to turn the ignition on. (This keeps some jerkwad from stealing your car by breaking the lock cylinder and starting the engine with a screwdriver.) When the security light starts flashing and the engine will not start, it is because the ignition switch was turned on and everything powered up but the passlock system did not read a valid key code. Replacing the passlock cylinder should fix your problem. This is pretty common.

Some tried to steal my truck last night smashed ignition key still fits in and starts but shuts right back off.

Apparently your "Passkey" system did its job...It prevented the vehicle from going anywhere without the proper key being used. The Passkey system has probably been damaged and that is why your key will no longer work to make the engine keep running. The ignition switch and Passkey Module at the switch will have to be replaced. When the Passkey module is replaced, the new one has to be programmed for the engine computer to enable the fuel injectors to work properly.

How to bypass ignition security system

It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shuting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix...

Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. For a list of cars effected by this problem. See the NEWROCKIES link on the right side of their page......... They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks.

----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey **** system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites

Cadillac seville won't start

I've got an even cheaper and easier solution, instead of buying a new cylinder, find that plug and snip the orange wires going to the old cylinder. Then remove the resistor chip from the key and solder each of the the wires to each side. this will fool the car into thinking the correct resistor chip is in place, allowing you to use the original key or any copies with or without resistor chips. i just did this to my caddy and it roared to life! :)
