Year, make, model, engine size?
Water pumps are typically serviced as a complete assembly. There are usually no serviceable parts. Not sure what you are trying to do?

92 buck century water pump pulley broke. how to replace

If the pulley actually came off the water pump then it was more than likely an integral part of the pump itself. Separate pulleys are usually attached with four bolts, and unless they were incorrectly installed they do not fall or break off. In this case the pulley was probably permanently attached to the pump and therefore the water pump itself will need to be replaced.

Hi Guru/Master, I have a 2006 Dodge Stratus SXT, 2.4L Engine. It has AIRBAG light on, and horn doesn't work. I guess it is the clock spring needs to be replaced. I couldn't find the part/model of...

Hello:
Depending on the options in your vehicle , you could have one of 4 clocksprings.4649130AC, 4649193BC, 4649194AC, or 56044931AB. This is a dealer item only.
The clockspring is a ribbon wire that is coiled up insidethe steering column. This component is the subject of many discussions onthese threads. Many times the steeringwheel or column is disconnected and then rotated beyond the center position itis required to be in. This will causethe clockspring wire to break. Theclockspring delivers current to all of the systems above it... the airbag, cruisecontrol and horn. When it fails (and they do a lot) the wire breaksleaving one or all of the circuits open and inoperative. This will causethe airbag light to come on and shut down the airbag system. As long asthat light is on, the airbags will NOT deploy, even in an accident. Sometimes it's intermittent as the wirebegins to break. Once it breaks completely, the 'airbag' light will illuminate.
This was a factory recall for many vehicles and many customers are unaware ofthat. Check out the last site for information on researchingyour own vehicle for factory recalls. ...or contactyour local dealer and they will accommodate the replacement for you.

Need to replace water pump. how easy it it?

Pretty easy. Just drain antifreeze. Then loosen 4 bolts that holds fan to pulley. Remove plastic fan schroud and fan pulley. Loosen water pump bolts in criss cross pattern and remove water pump. Clean surface install new gasket and water pump install in reverse order. Tighten in staggerd order to keep from breaking and warping. Don't forget to change thermostat good time to replace. Part should be about 50 bucs at your local parts store.

How to remove a water pump

Locate water pump.. It's where the bottom radiator hose goes from the radiator. Remove any brackets or parts that are in your way. Remove water pump! Reverse procedure for installation. You have to remove the fan clutch from the water pump shaft and lift the shroud, fan and clutch all out together. remove two bolts in the center radiator support which let the radiator move forward an inch or so, loosen the fan from the clutch for a little more wiggle room to get it out. The shroud will have rubber splash shields hooked to the lower sides too, so be sure to unhook them or you will tear out the holes in the rubber shields. The fan clutch has to come off anyway because it's attached to the water pump. You don't need to remove the fan shroud. Just take out two bolts on the fan clutch and loosen the other two so you can push the clutch back a little (DON'T let the fan clutch fall). Then remove the water pump. It's a little tight, but much easier than removing the fan shroud.the only specialty tool that you will need is the water pumpt "grab" tool and the fan clutch wrench. These two items come together in one kit that you can rent from the Auto Parts store.
The "grab" tool holds the water pumpt pully firmly while you rotate the fan clutch retainer using the fan clutch wrench.

DO NOT attempt to use a break over bar or some other home-grown tool to hold the water pump pully while attempting to break the fan clutch free - you will mess up the heads of the four retainer bolts holding the pully to the water pump face.
this will help.thanks.

91 trooper water pump replacement

If your car is over-heating, chances are it's the water pump or thermostat. These two parts should be changed out at the same time because if your pump is old enough to go out then the thermostat is not far behind.

Step1 serpentine247bs_thumb.jpg First you'll need to pull out the old water pump. Look in your vehicles owners manual and find the diagram showing what all that stuff under your hood is. locate the water pump (usually underneath alternator running on the same belt) you'll need to take this belt (serpentine or other) off to start pulling the old pump. There should be a tension bar or arm that easily loosens the belt with the right size socket. Step2 Once you've gotten the belt off you can begin to remove the old pump. There should be only a few large bolts holding it in. After you've gotten the old pump out, place the silicone sealer on the new water pumpmag-glass_10x10.gif 9around the edges where it meets the gasket. Then apply the sealer to the gasket as well, just use your fingers to spread it on. Now place the new pump with gasket, where the old one was, replace the bolts and be sure not to crank down too tight on the bolts or you might crack the gasket and your pump wont seal. Step3 thermo_thumb.jpg Now that you've gotten the new pump installed, you'll want to replace the thermostat. the thermostat could be located near the water pump or on the other side of the engine. So once again, refer to the vehicles owners manual and find where the thermostat is. You might need to remove some hoses and/or lines to get to the thermostat, so just be careful not to break/bend/crack or damage anything (the older the vehicle, the better chance of something breaking) Pull the old thermostat and replace it with the new and you're all done. Don't forget to put everything (hoses, lines, nuts'n bolts) back where they came from and off you go!
