Question about 2008 GMC Acadia
Out of the blue yesterday after turning on my Acadia, white smoke started billowing out of the tailpipes. Noticed that the temp went quickly to 210 and the fans weren't coming on. If I turn the AC on, fans do come on. No trouble codes. If I let it cool, everything's fine on startup for a few minutes...then it happens all over again. Any ideas?
Do you have an extended warranty ?
Usually white smoke from the exhaust means the engine is burning coolant thru a blown head gasket or intake gasket.
You should also be low on coolant in the radiator.

SOURCE: My 2008 Acadia is overheating.
it sounds as though your acadia may not actually be overheating, it sounds more like the tempeture sensor is bad, if its "froze" at a certain reading this could fool your computer, you should be able to replace this part for around 20 or 30 dollars. hope this helps

Disconnect the module and power the motor direct from the battery and see what happens.-----------The problem is the blower motor control module is shorted. This is a common concern these trucks. The blower control module is located next to the blower motor. It has 2 wires that come out of it and goes to the blower motor, it also has a small wire harness going in to the module. If you unplug this module, the blower will stop. You need to replace this module to repair this issue. The module is plug and play, no programing needed. This module have one plug that goes into the unit and two wires going out of it to the blower motor with two mounting bolts and two silver plates on the othe side of it. ------ click this link below for voltage checking to blower motor controller:--- --------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
