Question about 2002 Kia Sportage
I have a 2000 Kia Sportage that is running hot? I replaced water pump fan clutch and thermostat.. but from 180 degree to 195 was all they had available for not. But it is still running about 3/4 on the gauge what else can this be? Just got out of shop 2 weeks ago. I just bought this thing and previous owner isnt helping me with answers. Im a single mom an if I can do this myself with easy instructions Id rather try. I have no money to fix this. SO PLEASE HELP ME!!! there is not red mark on the gauge to say whats normal could it be the sensor? Or the gauge??

you can get a new temp gauge sender unit and install it
bleed the air out of the cooling system by loosening off the highest point hose
have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracked head
take it to an accredited radiator specialist and have a flow test done on the radiator
it is possible that the cores are blocked and it needs repalcing

yes it is very easy just remove the air intake duct located on the radiator (2 10mm bolts) this exsposes the thermostat housing it has 3 10mm bolt remove those and the top of the housing the the thermostat. clean off old gasket material, then replace the thermostat and gasket and reassemble the housing and air intake duct.

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage ex, 4 cyl.
Many of the Kia sportages have a problem with the coils.
There are 2 coils for each 2 cyl and they are located under the middle platic cap on the valve cover.
These coils will set a check engine light that blinks when misfiring and stays on steady when the motor is running smooth. Autozone or Advance auto have a scanner that can check all engine functions and will show a problem with # 2 and 4 cyl.
The coil packs are $39.00 to replace but check the codes first

Unfortunately, I refer to repairs of this type as "search and repair missions"...You've overlooked the radiator core...the only thing left and probably the culprit. ($180)
