Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent
I have an automatic Hyundai accent. I am having weird problems... It will get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear and stay stuck it sounds like its crying for help! My mechanic said it's the electrical harness and some sensor and it would cost me $931.00 to fix it!! I just had my tranny rebuilt 3 years ago... This morning it was put in reverse and it shook really bad and the check engine light started blinking
When the check engine light flashes it means DONT RUN IT or you will damage the engine. There are codes that your mechanic pulled from the computer, WHAT ARE THOSE CODES?

You need to check the transmission fluid level, if it is low the tranny will not shift. If, however, the fluid is to the proper level then you will need a new transmission.
Try putting new fluid in and look for a leak in the pan gasket, then all you may need is a transmission service. When the service is done the mechanic will look for pieces of metal in the old fluid, if found this is very bad and you will need a new tranny.
You might consider a new or used car, you can definately find a good deal out there!

It sounds like you have either a lean or rich condition ocurring, could be exuast leak, vac leak, leaking fuel preasure regulator, cat convertor. At this point would go to dealer for diagnosis.

P0734 - 4th gear incorrect ratio. P1529 Malfunction Indicator Lamp Request. Problem is in the transmission.
Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.
