'97 dodge inteprid 3.5. Just replaced the timing belt and I can't get the cam marks to line up with the rear covers. Do they eventually line up?

If the belt is installed and tensioner set, and the marks do not line up, you will need to do it over. All three marks, crankshaft and both camshafts, MUST be lined up for the valve timing to be correct. Once set properly, they will not change. Every two revolutions of the crankshaft, all three marks should again line up exactly.

Need to know how to set the timing on a 1984 Ford bronco 2 2.8 v6 crank shaft looks like this

1. On the harmonic balancer you will find a line cut into it, mark it with some white chalk.
2. loosen the distributor just enough to be able to turn it.
3. look the setting up in the book.
4. start the vehicle the turn the distributor until the line lines up with your chalk line at the setting point.

How to set time with light

Most timing lights have to cables with clamps that connect to the vehicle battery. A third wire is clamped over or put in line with the number 1 spark plug wire. Some vehicles require the vacuum advance be diconnected and the vacuum hose plugged before timing. The engine pulley bolted on the crankshaft usually has a mark that will be illuminated by the timing light when the engine is running. This mark has to be lined up with the proper mark on the engine block . Turning the distributor moves the mark back or forward. Adjust till timing marks line up.
Hope this helps.

How to set a timing in a 2005 ford focus

Timing chain or belt? Almost all timing gears have a dot that face each other when the timing marks are lined up. If you are not carful you can damage the valves while rotating the crank and came to the lined up position. However in a perfect world the top gear can be removed when it is lined up, and reinstalled with the chain or belt in place, it will be tight but you should not need to force it. good luck

I have a 2000 dodge caravan trying to time it dont know how has a 3.0 motor

set the timing mark on the crankshaft to the mark on the oil pump, then set the timing mark on the camshaft to the mark on the alternator bracket/set second camshaft mark to mark on the inner timing belt cover. line up all mark as decribed. be sure before u set anything to bring #1 piston all the way up to top. with belt on turn crankshaft 2 full turns to bring #1 piston back to top if the cams are not lined up correctly loosen belt and start over again until everything lines up correctly. you may have to do this a few times but it will work.

Timing on a 2000 chevy s10 blazer 4.3. Replaced bent push rod and valve, now can't find any specific guidance on how timing is to be set.

The timing is not adjustable. There are two lines on the harmonic balancer, the first line should line up with the mark on the timing cover, towards the bottom, on the driver side of the engine, the second line should line up with an arrow on the timing cover above the first mark. You'll need to have the rotor in the distributor lined up with the "6" on the distributor housing. You may need a long screw driver to turn the oil pump shaft to get the distributor lined up right.

Need to set timing

there is a hole in the cam sprocket, when it is at about 12 oclock it chould line up with a groove machined into the head. That is tdc for cam, when lower timing cover removed, mark on crank sprocket should line up with mark on block.

1993 Toyota Camry V6 Timing Settings

Get a T belt from toyota. It has 3 white lines on it and and arrow mark. 2 lines are solid and one is broken. Put the arrow facing away from the engine. The cam gears have a dot punched into them near a certain tooth. This is where the solid white lines will line up with. The crank gear will have a dot also. It will line up at 90 degrees from the top, towards the front of the car. This is where the broken line will match up with. With the belt installed with all lines on their proper dots and arrow away from the engine, you valve timming is correct.
Of course you need to remove and compress the tensioner also. I assume you know this already since you didn't ask.
