Th cowling let in fresh air for the heateer and defroster, Their is a drain in the bottom of the cowling or heater ductwork which allows the water to escape before going into the car. I woudl gues that the drain is stopped up..

If you want to know the where the water is coming from, water is entering from the passenger side front cowl. ( the vent below the windshield that sucks the air in for your a/c and heat) there is a recall where chevy installs a plate under the cowl and diverts water out. There is your answer.

Well, that's where your heater core that circulates coolant from your hot engine and back to engine is located. You should be able to feel and smell if it is coolant with antifreeze, or just plain water. If it's coolant, then likely your heater core has sprung a leak and needs replacing. If it were a leaking hose, it would probably be leaking under hood along the firewall where your inlet and outlet heater lines run into the firewall and connect onto the heater core. Good luck.

SOURCE: water leak in front passenger
The drain hole at the top of the bonnet/ base of windscreen are prob blocked with crud leave and dust. Pop bonnet and clean out the gully at barse of windscreen. Drain holes are in the corners near bonnet hood hinges. Flush out and poke wire though. If the ate blocked the ware will just flood foot wells not drain away.
