Have you checked the fuel pump relay ?

Check the wiring and connections and if ok then replace the sensor. Check air gap to the rotor and check that there is no dirt or anything else that can affect the air gap

Service engine soon light

Not exactly.
The fuel pump would not cause a trouble code, but low fuel pressure could.
Have you checked fuel pressure and the computer for trouble codes ?

I have a timing problem. Low idle speed that is intermitten and causes a stumble at starts. This problem also occurres during normal running RPM's. Missing electronic signal but intermitten?

Could be bad sensor whether crank sensor, sam sensor, idle air control sensor, bad ignition module, bad coil or even timing belt. if you have a service engine soon light/creck engine light it's more than likely a sensor. If no light, probably timing belt/fuel filter plugged/ or weak fuel pump.

97 explorer intermitten no start

Hi Tom- - you can check the pressure regulator by blocking off the return line to the gas tank and/or pulling the vac hose to the regulator if it is accessable.
Another thing to consider is the check valve in the pump. The check valve is supposed to prevent loss of pressure in the line when the engine is not running.

Are you sure its not the anti theft security system shutting you down. Look for an indicator light that says "security". If you see that light, go to this link for info and answers. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2000 gmc jimmy fuel pump runs intermittenly

I am sorry to hear you are having troubles. Unfortunately GM trucks did not had a great track record from 1994 until 2002. The complete pump and assembly was a great concept, only recently have they gotten a better design. These pumps aren't cheap either. If you purchase a new pump from an auto parts store, prepare to have the same trouble again in another year or so. AC Delco is the ONLY parts for your vehicle. I know the dealer parts are generally higher in price initially, but with auto parts only offering at best a 1 years warranty, you are better off purchasing the dealer part once. The only other thing i can think of that would cause intermittency, and this would really only be when you start to crank the vehicle and you hear the pump priming, would be a faulty ignition switch. the intermittency might be there rather than the pump. If it's cranking fine, then it's a likelyhood that the pump is shot.
Please let me know if this has you looking in the right direction. I am more than happy to further assist you with you question.

thanks again
