Heater my heat isnt working and may have to flush lines out and im not sure how i would do it?

How do i change 92 chev luminas heater core


It is probably not the heater core do to most times when the heater core goes bad it stars putting water into the interior of the car. It may be the heater core supply valve or the blend door actuator is not working. Try warming the Vehicle, then carefully feel the heater hoses, are they both hot? If one is cooler than the other, You need to flush the core, or do a replacement job on the heater core. Also if the system has a heat control valve on the heater hose, make sure it is working! Also check the thermostat, and the temperature blend door, thats under the dash, in the heater plenum. You can flush this yourself, buy the prestone flush kit and install the tee in the heater return line. Disconnect the heater hose at the waterpump, clamp the hose in back of the tee you installed and back flush till it runs clear.20 mins or so.

My 99 GMC sonoma with a 2.2L is not warming up properly


Possibly plugged or inerporable heater core. Possibly heater core valve (this diverts hot air through your heater system) When you flushed the block, was there a lot of contaminant? 95% of the time, cold heat means thermostat. Also there are a lot of really cheap after market thermostats, you can buy one as low as $6.00. That being said, just because a thermo is new doesn't necessarily mean it opens/shuts when it should. You can look on You Tube on how to test one in your kitchen with boiling water,.

So three basic things affect interior heat temps. Thermostat, plugged heater core/.valve, and insufficient coolant or liquid to tranfser heat. If your interior coolant (engine temp) is working normally and your vehicle reaches operating tempature according to the needle, your thermosat is probably not the cause.

My bet is somehow, your heater core is plugged so that their is not enough "flow"

95 caprice heater not blowing hot air, hissing when off. blower is working at all levels. not a sign of the resistor going out. just isnt blowing any heat. not losing any coolant.


The thermostat could be stuck open or the heater core or radiator could be clogged or it could be a faulty heater control valve.I would flush the coolant sytem out with prestone super flush and put a new thermostat in it first.

Heater does not come on, Radiator fluid full. Fluid heats, heater does not work blower works heater does not get hot or even warm.


Probably air locked. check to see if one of the hoses leading into heater is hot. Other cause could be heater solenoid control valve faulty. Very unlikely that the heater matrix is blocked. Easiest way to bleed heater is to remove hose's when car is cold and GENTLY flush through with garden hose and push hoses back on when full of water, so you know you have a heater full of fluid. stuck heater contrroll valve

check the upper and lower heater lines to make sure they are hot

also make sure it isnt an air lock
remove lower line check for flow when running

ford you say


check that there is flow coming out your heater hoses
step 1 remove 1c heater hose
step 2 have a friend start car remember it is easy to install a heater flush valve and it makes the job easier
if there is flow then eithor you have a blockage or an air lock
if there is no flow there might be a valve in the heater lines to stop the flow of coolant to the car when ac is on i have seen theise in a few cars but they are rare if there is a valve than make sure it isnt frozen with rust and ir does work in a ford i would assume that it is a vacume valve

I have a 97 ford ranger my heat does not work. I replaced the termastat, I checked the heater core both hoses are hot when running. The heat exchange door is working to. I need some help im at a dead end.....


try back flushing heater core, i know both hoses are hot but if blend door works then its got to be the core particaly blocked, also are you sure your looking at the blend door.try removing hoses from core then back flush with waterhose, go both ways, hope this helps good luck.

Heat won't blow when idle.


hmmm tricky, at a long shot it could be the heater control switch in the engine bay, u should be able to see this working if you get someone to sit in the cab and move the temp switch from cool to heat over and over. if this is working ok try bleeding or flushing your heater pipes. considering your getting heat when your moving but not at idle im leaning more to the bleed side of it, you could have an airlock. this would be overcome when the engine is at higher revs therefore pumping a higher volume of water and also at a faster rate through you heater lines temporarily fixing it
