Thanks found it, but no change. Also found the connector inside the drivers door arch, but still no reception. Looks like the wire on the window must have broken.

It should connect at the rear of the unit inside the dash.

SOURCE: Passenger and rear Passenger power

  • Sounds to me like although you found the broke ground (black) wire you may have missed the power wires.
  1. Open the door jam on the drivers door and look for that harness in the jam.
  2. Splice that harness lengthwise and this will expose a bunch of wire.
  3. All the wires for the windows, door chimes, mirrors, locks etc run through this harness.
  4. If you need to the also remove the boots on either end to get a better look at the wires inside the frames.
  5. When the brake is found then splice and insulate a piece of wire in there.
  6. The wires insulation can be deceiving so feel real well and if need be strip some wire to get a positive look at the copper braids themselves.
  • Find the remaining broken wires and you will fix your problem.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

My kia sorento 2006 limited edition bought as used .The problem is the radio can get so much station .It's antenna located behind rear view mirror on windshield. Please

These types of antenna have poor reception, but should pickup local channels. Check the back of your receiver to make sure the coax is pushed all the way in, and hasn't fallen out. For better reception you could replace the aerial with a mounted aftermarket one. Hope this helps.

Rear defroster lights up, but does not defrost, also very weak car radio reception.

Between the rear passenger window and the back window is a junction where rear defrost wiring and radio antenna connect. Rear defrost wiring becomes loose and burns this unit out. when looking for replacement at salvage yard everyone of them I found had burned up. Lots of La Sabres w/o working rear defrost. I made solid connections for defroster, and added an antennae, not much point in repeating a system that will fail again.

Bad radio reception. how do i fix faulty aerial on 3 series 1998 bmw

The antenna is built into the glass but there is a antenna amplifier behind the c pillar cover on the left.this cover is located at the far left of the interior of the vehicle between the rear glass and the rear door.alot of time all that needs to be done is to move and tighten the cable wires at the antenna amp.

When I turn on the rear defrost the radio loses reception. is there a short between the radio antenna and rear defrost

Heated rear windows have a high voltage load, quickest and easy resolve would be to install an inline suppressor to where the aerial plugs into the back of the stereo, available from all car audio store, it will improve your reception also.
