I assume that you have a 1.8 engine. The oil filter is in a round metal housing under the engine; you have to remove the housing to access the cartridge type oil filter; the 1.8s do not have a "spin-on" filter.

If this is the V6 engine, your oil filter should be a canister type filter, it should be located on the passenger side, underneath at the front of the engine. You should see what looks like a black cap (about the size of an oil filter) your oil filter is located inside this canister. Hope this helps.

Hi, if the wheel noise gets louder as you go faster, you have a worn out bearing. This can also cause the ABS system to fail, as the wheel speed sensor signal is corrupted by the vibration of the wheel. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

You may need to remove the alternator, its
just behind it. Engraved to the engine body. However generally this is stamped
onto a plate and fixed to the engine block itself. You can also check the hood
and around the fenders to find an engine name or number.
Please get back to me if you have further query.

Search the block for the engine block casting number. The numbers are raised, not stamped into the block and consist of seven numeric digits. The digits can be located on either side of the block. The seven-digit number may be followed with a dash and further numbers. These are change codes and are not normally necessary to identify the engine.
Locate the casting date is located on the block. It is in standard date coding, 2.25.93, for example and may be located on either side of the block, but is commonly located on the driver's side of the block, above the freeze plugs. The example 2.25.93 decodes as February 25, 1993. The casting date may be near the casting clock, which designates the hour the block was cast. Magnum engines were manufactured from 1993 to 2002, so verifying the date code helps identify the engine.
