2004 Toyota Camry - Check engine light has been coming on intermittently for a year. When reading the codes it states Knock Sensor and O2 Sensor Bank 1. The car is very sluggish when the light comes on....

I would tend to say the knock sensor is a result of the 02 sensor, because if it is not reading correctly it could be reporting the engine is running to rich, there for leaning out the air fuel mixture resulting in knocking which is then picked up by the knock sensor. I would start by replacing the O2 sensor in bank 1.

My Toyota Vitz has a problem of engine knocking even when the engine is cold. the knocking reduces if i press hard on the gas, other wise it knocks while shifting and initial pick up as well.

Knocking can be caused by a bad bearing somewhere in the engine. When the engine is accelerated it might go away due to higher oil pressure.

When did you have the oil changed and how many miles does it have?

Is the knocking rapid (5 or 6 times a second) or periodic (1 or 2 times a second)?

Some knocking is due to low octane gasoline if you experience it at highway speed.

Good luck on solving this knocking problem.

Adjusting idle speed ae100 corolla

What is the question, the idle speed or the knock sensor? The idle speed is not adjustable, it is computer controlled, if it has a stalling problem then the idle speed control valve is dirty.
The Knock sensor is just that, it senses what some people call spark knock, some pinging and others cylinder detonation, it sends a signal to the computer that the engine is knocking and the timing is then retarded until the knock stops, it can not completely stop knock but in most cases it controls it well as long as the engine is in good condition and the right grade of gas is used.

Honestly I am a Honda Tech so I am a little Biased. But from what I have seen working on chevys they have had alot more problems than any honda or toyota I have worked on.

Honda and Toyota parts are better desighned in my personal Opinion. And they are a better quality car.

2005 Toyota Camry - knock sensor

Your sensor went off because it overknocked.
Try using a different type of fuel with a higher octane.
Erase the code and use the better gas. if it comes back then we will worry about replacing it.
