Question about Dodge Cars & Trucks
Umm.... Well I own a dodge ram 1500 and I bought the proper wire harness and hooked everything up correctly and my deck had nothing. Then (as I did in my Panasonic) I crossed the yellow and red which are my 12v bat and my ign 12v and it turns on but doesn't hold memory. My truck has no place for ground so I ran a wire in for that and made sure it was actually grounded. I just left it there since whenever i try different wires things go really bad. Such as my illum blowing and dome lights dont work and so on. I also found that without my ground my headlights overpower my deck when I turn them on and it shuts down. So right now my red and yellow are crossed and I got everything working together but my memory. The only other thing I can think of that may be a problem is that the back of my deck (only tested at night with my headlights on(remember that was over powering my deck)) gets really really hot really really fast. I've only had it on for maybe a 15 minute period straight. Please help me understand why my headlights are overpowering my deck and please explain why I need to cross my yellow and red. Plus please help me solve my decks memory problem.
Do you have factory infinity sound. If you do you need a another harness or bypass that infinity system. Also What year is the truck. I know for a dodge ram after 02 is a canbus system. When wiring in the harness leave the blue remote wire alone do not connect from radio harness to the harness that connects to factory harness. Unless you are running to an aftermarket amp. There is a brown wire also that you should not connect leave the remote blue and brown wires alone. this is atleast on a 02 dodge 1500 or newer and 03 or newer 2500+. not sure if this will solve your issue but it fixed my buddies.

SOURCE: 96' ford contour radio wiring
You can run the power lead to the one in the original harness, the one for the clock is low draw and can be attached to any accessory fuse in the fuseblock that is hot all the time but nothing that has anything to do with operating systems like computer etc. They supply two grounds so that everything is properly grounded. I usually extend one ground lead and attach it to a different ground source other than the dash.
