Gauge cluster

I am putting a 140 mph gauge cluster in my mustang and for one the gauges do not work and only the left and right side of cluster will light up and the kicker....when I hit my high beam switch it starts my fuel pump, gauges work, and the middle of the cluster lights up. I don't know even where to begin, the wiring harness look fine under the dash.

Hi, Sorry to tell you but whats happened is you have failed to keep all the wiring & where the dash is concerned the printed circuit has been disturbed which is the problem. Find an electrical vehicle technician to remove the dash & sort it all out you will no doubt need to replace certain printed circuit technician to sort the problem out. Please leave me feed back Malcolm Campbell, [email protected] Thanks.

SOURCE: 1966 Ford Mustang Gas Guage not working

I had a similar problem. In my 1966 Mustang gas tank, the fuel pick-up was on a "float." My float developed a hole, filled with gasoline, and sank to the bottom of the tank, therefore, the gauge always read empty, but the car ran well. All the other gauges of course worked correctly. The repair was a relatively simple soldering job (after removing the float from the tank), but if that is indeed the problem, ensure all the gasoline is drained from the float before beginning the soldering job.

SOURCE: Fuel gauge not working

Normally I'd say the float/sending unit in the gas tank is the culprit, however the fact that your service engine light is involved requires further investigation, You need to hook up an obd2 reader to the interface mounted under your dashboard and see what it has to say, there might be a simple error code preventing your gauge from functioning. Many auto parts stores will do this for you for free...

My 2005 trailblazer starts cold & when hot but when it gets halfway it cranks a lo about halfway down on temp gauge it cranks a long time & the gas mileage dropped a lot could

I know that you can't trust the Trailblazer instrument cluster at all. Our 2007 was the biggest mess, but it's the gauge clusters and not the sending units that are defective. There are Good Folks making a Living doing nothing more than rebuilding Trailblazer Instrument Clusters and you can google that. The only way to know for sure is to verify with other means. For example, For MPH on the speedometer simply drive an indicated 60 mph on any Interstate Hwy that has Mile markers and time how long in seconds it takes to get from one marker to the next. 60 seconds means the speedometer is perfect. A temperature gun can tell you if the temp gauge is working right or not. Is your mileage changing or are the gauges giving you bad info? My advice is start at the gauges because they will drive you nuts. I hope that helps you!

Gauge cluster on 2003 silverado does not function properly

GM seems to have had poor stepper motors in the early to mid 2000s. Replace with a new cluster or pick one up from the junkyard - beware milage may be programed in the cluster.

I have a 2005 mustang and the gas gauge is all over the place and the speedometer is lower than nomal. It will read 30 mph when we are going 50. The temperature gauge is also incorrect. Is the problem the...

This is due to a problem with the gears in the gauges; there was a manufacturing defect that ford fixed in later years. The cheapest solution is to replace these gauges. I found a local mechanic that knew how to fix it, and did the job for $30 a gauge. I recommend checking craigslist for a local person, because this is a very common problem.

Every time my husband starts his 01 mustang all of the gauges go all the way to the right side. its like the battery is reseting each time.

on a ford that is very common its called a gauge sweep its to prove out the intrument cluster to make sure everything is working... Its a self test the cluster does on its own to make sure all gauges are operational and make sure they will do there full travel... Its a normal characteristic and there is no flaw with the system and no recommendation on repair

My temp gauge and fuel quit working

This is pretty common on the 2005 Mustangs, it's caused by failing stepper motors in the instrument cluster, they control the movement of the gauges. Repair is around $180 and there's a guide on how to fix them yourself here - 2005 Mustang speedometer problem

Something in the truck is feeding to the ground causing the reading to be wrong or the resistor on the cluster is bad for the T-stat.

2005 Mustang all of my Gauge readings are going crazy. Says I am going 70 when I am going 30 the tachometer goes way below 0 in the wrong direction. And the temp gauge reading is always on c.

On the 05 Mustang instrument clusters this is a common problem, it's caused by failing stepper motors on the cluster's circuit board. It can be fixed though, check out this page for more on how to get it repaired - 05 mustang instrument cluster repair

My temp gauge stopped working, how can I figure

it is most likly a burnt out fuse, or the whole instrument cluster is shot. that happened to my 2002 impala. all gauges froze, and nothing worked. I would check the fuse first before replacing the entire cluster. Best of luck

2005 v6 instrument cluster problems

mustangs of your year are known for having defective stepper motors installed in the gauge cluster. Having someone replace the bad motor with the newer p/n motor should be a lot cheaper than replacing your cluster at the dealership.
