SOURCE: Skoda Fabia 2004 1.4 tdi 75 bhp. Very sluggish to turn over, had new battery and alternator but still same. Alternator only puts outs 12.3 volts on tickover but no charging liight is on?

Does the battery light work? Do you trust this meter? If this is like most newer cars then the Alternators output voltage is computer controlled, you need the dealer to diagnose the issue and replace the computer is needed, it is a very expensive part so don't just throw one in there.

SOURCE: Skoda Fabia 1.4tdi 2008 starting trouble after engine given rest. Especially in morning. Takes long self.

I am suspecting an air problem in the fuel system. Check that all fittings and filters are tight as if fuel drains back over night the when you try staring in the morning the air in the system will not let it start.. Bleed out any air from any bleed screws.

What is Diagnostic code PO306 and PO118

Code 306 is a miss on cylinder 6, and code 118 is for a short to ground for the coolant temp sensor.
Once the sensor is replaced or the problem fixed, you would need to clear the code with a scanner. Same thing for code 306.

Vw jetta 2002 code p1296/po118

Both of these codes indicate trouble with the signal from the coolant temperature sensor.

So either the sensor is bad. The thermostat is not working properly and the coolant temperature is truly way out. The wiring to the sensor is short or open. The computer is bad and it is manifesting itself through this fault.

Does the car warm up properly? If it runs hot, or takes forever to warm up, this indicates a problem with the thermostat.

If the car runs at the proper temperature the next thing to look at is the coolant temp sensor and wiring. Some resistance values for VWs are here:

hi john , sure sounds like you may have unplugged the coolant temp sensor or didn't get a good connection at the sensor , location , in between two exhaust ports on the side of the engine that has the oil fill and pcv .
