2002 jaguar x type

How do i reset my computer in my car , do the type of battery has an effect on the jaguar perfomance of the vehicle, i recently change my battery with a battery with slightly lower voltage, also change spark plugs, now my car smothers and looses power when gas pedal is fully depress at high speed, my car also runs horrible when start in the morning for about 2 mins , and a strong scent of gas from the exhaust, then it levels off good , does the temperature sensor has anything to do with this.what do you suggest.

Hello
Definitely the battery has a big role in Jaguar cars, as Jaguar cars are very sensitive when it comes to battery.
You never go less than specified , going a little higher is ok but not lower

SOURCE: 2000 Jaguar S-Type Battery

I had to change the battery in my 1999 S-Type, you will need the radio code, I also needed to reprogramme the board computer which is easy if you have your manual at hand, also the car might act strangely for a while, but this is explained in your users manual, nothing to worry about.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2001 jaguar s-type 4.0 oil in spark plug area

Hi bravo956
i also have the same problem regarding the oil leak. this is due to the spark plug gasket leaking and you will need to replace them. they are circular gaskets about 1.5 inches across that fit to the underside of the rocker covers and prevent oil from seeping down the long spark plug hole. when i investigated my leak i assumed it was just the rocker cover gasket that was leaking but once everything was removed it is obvious.

SOURCE: Engine won't start on Jaguar XJ8 Vandenplas TRAC NOT AVAILABLE

hey blackdiam522,
First did you have a check engine light, and do you know what the code was if you did?

Ok, the traction control not available isnt goin to affect the car from starting.During my year of a jaguar tech the most common for a crank, no start is a flooded engine. Now the two most causes for a flooded engine on these jags are 1. the weather is just super cold and all the own does is keep cranking the car to try to get to start. 2. A lot of short trip, a lot of city driving, 15 mins or less.

When you get something like this, a no start crank, you have to pump the gas pedal really fast, like your starting an oil muscle car. this forces more air into the engine.

when this no start happend u could get all these codes, what i maybe would recommend is a tune up, and some highway driving every once and a while to kept this from happening again, hopefully this helps, thanks.

SOURCE: 95 Jaguar XJ6 will not start and No codes present?

During cranking @crk sensor u should see up to 1 ac volt. Also if cam position sensor is @ fault u may not get a code, internal fault. Cam sensors are not availible, but rebuild kit is availible. The engine has to be set to top dead center aligning mark on crank pulley & tab aswell as mark on cam sensor itself.

Testimonial: " It was the CAM Sensor! All is well and our Jaguar is back on the road!! THANKS!!!"

- PCM Detected Trouble Codes (DTC) have recently been cleared with a scan tool.
When is the code detected? If DTC P1000 is triggered after DTCs have been cleared, all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles have not been cleared. I don't want to buy a priority battery from Jaguar. What other car model battery would work in a 2002 X-Type Jaguar.

Maybe a Motorcraft (Ford) will work fine, (I bought one) but be carefull to make a "back-up", never disconnect the battery at 100%, it make troubles with the computers modules, and will send error codes, someones do this "back-up" with another battery (befores disconnecting it) or a kind of plug-in battery to the cigarrette lighter, then, when you change the battery, start the car and lights (high), A/C, radio etc., then turn off al, then l and the car, even remove key, wait a minute, and start the car, if an error message appears, do the same again, if still, you´ll need to get an scanner reset. Get Luck!

2008 X-type 2.2 Diesel Auto Jaguar. Is it

hello, you might try taking battery cables loose from battery, count to 7-10 seconds, put them back on this should clear computer, also you will have to reset your radio stations, diesel motors are pretty simple, if this dont work then it may have to go to dealer, they do pretty much the same thing.
