If the check engine light is on, it could be one of several different sensors.
Otherwise, I would want to know what base fuel pressure is to start with. And has the fuel filter been replaced in the past couple of years ?

I think it is a fuel filter or an EPC sensor.

SOURCE: 1993 geo prizm started runnig

Hello Rick
You are probably on the right track with what you have already done.
You may have to go a little bit more.
A distributor cap and ignition wires should be replaced as well.
Possibly an ignition coil too.
When at idle your engine isn't working too hard and the air fuel mixture is easy to ignite.
When under load the spark requirement rises and it needs more energy in order to jump the gap at the spark plug.
If your ignition wires, distributor cap or coil has a weak point the spark will jump off there rather than the spark plug.
Also if you have recent dampness or rain the water acts like a conductor and makes it even easier to jump at a weak point.

If your ignition system proves to be OK there may be a weak fuel injector. Although fuel injector issues are somewhat rare your Geo has more than the average problems in this area.
These can be difficult to diagnose and rather pricey if my memory serves me.
It may be in your best interest to have a pro look into that if need be.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Sounds like your Idle Air Control valve is bad. The IAC valve controls the engine idle speed. The valve is located on the side of the throttle body. This valve allows the necessary amount of air, as determined by the (PCM) and controlled by a duty cycle signal, to bypass the throttle plate in order to maintain the proper idle speed. Good luck!

I have a 06 Ford F-150 4X4 that has codes po731, po732, and p1000, which is sluggish on acceleration and has no overdrive. Any ideas?

The po700 codes are transmission related ( turbine codes ) if I recall. Usually the tranny control module will put the tranny in 2nd gear which will give you the sluggish feeling. I would suggest having a tranny pro look into this and isolate the problem for you

2001 Chevrolet Astro has service engine soon light

You have to have the code pulled to see what it is. This MAY help but you should also have the fuel pressure checked to see if you have a blockage usually when a pump goes out the vehicle won't start or may just idle.GOOD LUCK

Chevy cobalt ls is getting a slower take off

Throw in some racing fuel to clean out your injectors or even run your gas all the way out and throw in injector cleaner with supreme gas then run that tank empty before filling up again.

Well 1 way to tell if it is the cat un bold the exhaust at the manifold or try and remove the oxygen sensors in front of the cat if it runs fine then you know that the cat is pluged

Sluggish when taking off

I had a very similar problem with my prizm, and it was mass air flow sensor. They cleaned it out, and now shes back to running good! It could also be an O2 sensor, or a regulator.

Good luck!

Transmission Vibration i think

it could be from slightly bent axles or bad suspension such as tie rod ends or ball joints but I would lean towards axles if only certain speeds.
