firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6, meaning from looking at the motor directly.

  • Brad Brown Apr 29, 2013

At the front you have 4-5-6 and at the back you have 1-2-3

When it rains my 2003 ford escape v6 misfires and runs rough

coil pack(s) are bad. go to local auto parts store and they will test your check engine light to tell you what cylinder is misfiring. these parts arn't cheap. when looking at the motor, cylinders 123 are in the back from left to right, 456 are in the front and easy to do. however, changing the back coils are more difficult because it requires removal of the plastic intake. maybe 45 min to change all 6

Cylinder #2 misfiring

A Chilton or Haynes manual will show that. Sometimes under the hood is a picture showing how the vacuum lines and belts go, it just may mention the plug wires...........

My 2004 z4 has a misfire on #2 cylinder. which one is it? front left or front right side of engine?

Front left or right ? As far as I know an 04 Z4 has a straight 6 cylinder in it. Number 2 cylinder would be the second one in from the front of the engine/car.

Had codes run on my 2001 Jaguar s-type 4.0. Was told it said misfire in cylinder 6. Where is cylinder 6 loacted in the firing line?

  • Below is the firing order. As you look at the engine from the front #6 is on the right side second cylinder from the front.

  • This is a coil on plug set up. That means the wires wont just pull up like some engines. There will be a bolt (probably 8mm or 10mm) that will need to be removed then the coil can be removed up and out. At this point the spark plug will be removable with a deep socket and a ratchet.

  • The misfire could be the plug, coil wire or a crack in the coils.
  • Some things to try is replacing that plug and clear the code and see if it returns.
  • Swap coil wires and see if the code follows the placing of the coil wire that was on # 6.
  • Swap the coil packs and see if the code switches to the other side of the engine.

Need to know from left to right at plugs and on distrubitor is it clockwise?

On Ford motors the cylinders are numbered front to back
on V6 & V8 motors, the cylinder that is closest to the front of the engine is 1
That back is 123 0r 1234 The other bank is 456 or 5678
The dist is clockwise.

We know the firing order for plugs and wires but we need to know where #1 2 3 etc start from

Your number one cylinder is always the front most piston, usually left front of the engine. If you follow the wire back to the coil pack or dist, whatever you have, you will have the number one, then you know the order, just go by it, and it should give you the rest of the pistons. A V6 sometimes goes, 123 on the left, and 456 on the right, but not always. They can cross over, left, right, etc. The 4 cylinder overhead cam engine is 1234, the firing order is cast into the engine block on all engines. I don't know what engine you have , but hope this helps.

Which cylynder is the number 1 on a 1999 chrysler 300m? I need to change the #2 fuel injector and don't know which cylinder is which

Cylinder #1 is on the right bank of the engine. So if you are looking at the front of the engine(where the serpentine belt is) it will be on the left. The right bank is the firewall side of the engine.

WHERE IS THE #2 SPARK PLUG/CYLINDER LOCATED?

Change all of the spark plug wires one at a time and label them so that you know where to put them back. I had the same problem and did this. The problem went away..
