SOURCE: My car runs hot

While the thermostat may be the problem, be sure to check the obvious. While the car is running and after it has had time to warm up, observe the fans. Do they cycle on? If not, this is why your taurus is running hot. Check the fuse box under the hood on the front driver's side. There is a 40 amp fuse that provides power to the radiator fans. Pull it and check to see if it has opened. If so replace it. If it blows again, you wil need to have your fans checked.

2003 Lincoln aviator that runs hot but appears to leak all the time

Darlene, the cooling system could now have air in it now, which may have to be bled out for cooling system to operate correctly, When you said it was leaking, ensure the leak was not internal to engine or you will have a lot bigger issue.

How can I get it to stop running hot?

How do you stop the Chev Impala running overheated?

You don't want to be running the engine in an overheat condition or you will cause very expensive engine damage many times what it will cost you to fix the current issue. It can be running hot for many reasons so have a competent professional mechanic check it over without delay and identify the cause(s). The causes can be many as outlined below:

1. You may have radiator coolant loss from an external leak source in the cooling system or a coolant leak from inside the engine that is resulting in a low coolant level.

2. You may have a partial blockage in the system from debris in the radiator or in the engine coolant passages that is retarding coolant flow through the cooling system.

3. The coolant thermostat may be sticking and not fully opening which will retard the very hot coolant flow from the engine to the radiator.

4. The water pump may be failing from badly corroded impeller blades but this is less likely on your 2008 but still a possibility.

5. You may have compression gasses from the engine leaking into the cooling system via a failed cylinder head gasket. In that event bubbles will show up in the coolant and the coolant will overheat.

6. Your radiator cap may be faulty and may be allowing coolant to flow into the overflow reservoir but not back again into the radiator during the cool down when the engine is off.

As mentioned, have it investigated and the cause identified without delay to avoid expensive engine damage.

First check your coolant level.

Next make sure your fan is operating properly.

Lastly, if all of those criteria have been met check your water pump, it may need replaced.

Hope this helps.

2000 - 300 M - engine ran hot QUICKly, shut down

Check your coolant level in the run-off tank and radiator. Something might be blocking the flow, t-stat could be stuck close not allowing to circulate coolant, check for leaks.

My 2006 charger 3.5 is leaking coolant but only somtimes is it a sign of water pump malfunction no indications on the gauges but car seems to be running hot

this is most likely the water pump if it is leaking at front of engine, the water pump is under the large timing belt cover and driven by the timing belt, so both are changed at the same time.

Sensor light comes on(2008 Dodge Charger)

if the weather has changed and got cold your tire pressure would have dropped and would be lower. 2 options. 1 is fill ther tire to 30 psi and ride it out (remembering that when it warms up the tire pressure will automatically go up too)
2. Is to run a dry air such as nitrogen which does not change pressure in hot/cold weather.
Hope this helps
