Question about Cars & Trucks
When ur manual says dont operate under a quater tank, they mean it. Wen doing so, particulates in the gas get more condensed & clog the filtering sock on the intake of the pump. Low fuel also makes the pump run hotter&burn out because the gas cools the pump. Some cars hve a trap door in trunk or under r. seat so u dont hve 2 drop the tank. I clean this sock , the tank itself, change fuel filter & try again, pumps also become weak but still operate so its good 2 check fuel pressure after this clean out.

Vacuum leaks,Use carby cleaner sprayed lightly around suspect areas like injector seals engine will react and pin point a leak.H/T leads could be tracking or breaking down.Plugs may require replacement.Injectors could be dirty, try can of injector cleaner next time you fill the vehicle up.Is the air box and lid securely fastened and intake tube to throttle body leak free with no holes etc? There are a number of things it could be and tried to cover a few of them as its hard to imagine engine condition etc.Check that advance/****** can on distributor is functioning correctly(not leaking)Could also be air flow meter anyway let me know how you go Good luck

Sounds like it may be bad gas. At least it is the first place to look!
Get a good bottle of Gasline Antifreeze. Pour it in the Gas Tank. Bounce the car up and down a little to get it mixed up with the gas. Start it up and let it run for a little while. Adding ONE bottle of this to your gas every time you fill-up will also help clean your engine and, if you are lucky, get you a few more miles to the gallon. If this does not Fix the problem at least it didn't do any harm. I use it religiously.
It is what I have done for years...

Has the 'Check Engine' light come on? I had this problem at 30,000 miles and the trouble codes set were transmission component slipping. Ultimately required replacement of the transmission.
