How do i find a battery drain

you can not check for a draw using the voltage setting on your multi-meter. You need to measure amperage. amperage is what is being used and causes the battery to go dead. Voltage is everywhere in the system and what you measured is voltage drop or the resistance of the circuit in question.

With your voltmeter set to amperage remove the positive cable end from the battery. place one lead on the positive cable end and the other lead on the positive battery post. Wait 30 minutes for everything to power down. you should see less than .050 amps. if you see more than start pulling fuses until you narrow down the circuit that is causing the draw.

make sure the key is off and out of the ignition, make sure all the doors are closed, and make sure there is nothing plugged into the 12 volt accessory outlets.

let me know what you find.

I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

I have a 2006 Fatboy. Headlight went out. I changed the bulb but still no light. All other lights are working fine. Fuse?

Yes it sounds like a fuse. If all other running lights are turning on then it has to be a fuse or wiring. Get a multimeter and take a few checks with it.

I have a 2002 gs 300 and my whole display, radio, time are out. There was a spark when getting a jump and my gauges went blank. Worst case scenario my motherboard is out what is cost to replace that?

Hi like to try to answer your question before buying any expensive parts check your fuses under the hood, cause it sounds only like a power surge n blew only one or two fuses a common thing when jumping a car
good luck.

Electrical short in 2000Corvette, drains battery

Hi. Best way to find it is old fashioned leg work and an amp meter. You need a cheap multi meter with a 10 amp range. turn everything including ignition off and connect multi meter. You disconnect neg terminal and put amp/multimeter in line between the negative wire and battery. A good reading drain will be around 0.3 amps.
if it is higher than about 0.5 amps remove then refit one fuse at a time until the drain disappears, That's the guilty circuit. Jon

The lights inside dashboard knobs & multi-function display went out

I'm not sure what model Toyota you have, but in a Camry, the cause is most likely a blown fuse. This is a 10A fuse labelled "Gauges" located behind a cover in the dash panel

Ok this is going to sound stupid but I recently broke down in my 1988 jeep wrangler 4x4 I changed the fuel pump and sending unit not thinking that I had blown a fuse which I did lol now all is fixed except...

do you have a multimeter or a test light? check each fuse and make sure there is power on both ends.
putting the fuses in wrongs places can cause them to blow or wiring to overheat if they are rated too high.
