If the stock radio/harness does not have an amp turn on feature, you wull have to add a switch somewhere to turn on the amp. The other option is to connect the blue amp wire to an accessory fuse in the fuse box. Then your amp would come on whenever the key is on. Make sense?

Where is the fuse for power windows on 1997 Rav4?

Well the thing is, it's not a fuse issue. If the drivers side works but the passenger and rear windows do not you most likeley have a bad master window switch (drivers side front). I now that it sounds odd but the only common thing with the remaining windows that are not working is the ground source located in that main switch. You can check to see if there is a ground from that switch but this may be a litle confusing. If you are able to remove that main switch in the drivers door but leave it plugged in here is how you check for a ground. Get a test light and connect the "alligator" clip part of it to a hot (positive) wire or terminal. In the back of that plug stick the "pointy" end of the test light into different wires. The wires you will want to check is the green & red one, The blue and white one, The red and yellow one, the red and blue one, the blue and black one and the blue and red one. If none of those wires makes the light turn on it means you do not have the ground you need. You have constant power but want makes the windows go up and down in the switches is a ground. All the windows get power from the same place so that's why I say it's a grounding problem since the drivers window is working and Like I say the only common source is in that switch. I hope I didn't confuse you with this but this is the best way I can explain it to you at this point. If you have questions or need this more detailed with some pictures, email me at csautomotivecars@att.net and I will do my best to help. No there will not be a charge if you email me. I don't mind helping and I am an automobile electronics specialist and sometimes it's hard for me to put it in plain nontechnical terms. Please remind me of your problem and what we are working on if you do write. I hope I was able to help at least a litle bit as to your problem.

Check the power to the power window switch on the driver's side.

Std & SuperCab Engine compartment fuse panel, Fuse # 110 -> Accessory delay relay -> Light Blue w/ Black stripe wire.

If you do not have power at the light blue w/ black stripe wire with the key in the accy or run positions, next would be to pull the accessory delay relay from the cab fuse panel, and bench test it to make sure when power & ground are connected to the coil, that the normally open terminals close. Easy test, power & ground to terminal 85 & 86, ohm meter on terminals 30 & 87.

sscullys_198.jpg

If the accessory delay relay bench tests good, check for continuity on terminal 87 to the light blue w/ black stripe wire at the window switch.
Another easy route is to install a jumper in the relay socket ( with the relay removed ) as shown in the diagram above, red line. This should have power at the power windows regardless of the key position. If not, the fuse is not good or the wire is broken, most likely in the rubber boot from the a pillar to the driver's door.

This is not a car question. I have a boat (Ford Escort Diesel engine) that uses a separate voltage regulator. My alternator has not been charging properly and there is a 5 amp drain in my system that I...

You can take your voltage regulator and alternator off and take to most auto parts store and they can test them to be sure.

A 5 amp drain is significant if it is a constant drain. You might want to use an accurant clamp on amp meter to troubleshoot it. I assume you installed a fuse panel, so start by pulling all fuses, and then putting them in one at a time - write down your readings. The one that is highest is probably the line you need to troubleshoot.

But before you go through all that, do you have a refrigerator on your boat that is DC? If so, I would make sure that it is turned off before spending time troubleshooting.

:o( you're going to have to pull the radio out to see what they did. They probably added a wire to an inappropriate circuit to power the new radio or amp. I will paste your factory wiring colors below. If you now have an extra wire, that is the likely culprit. Trace it to see where they hooked it in. If it isn't going to the the fuse box and using an extra slot, make it so by connecting it to the cold side of the fuse and put an approprite size fuse in. To determine the fuse size to use, you can compare the wire gage to other cold side wires and use a fuse the same size as you see being used for similar gage wires. Let me know if you have more questions.

Is there a relay center under the dash? that might logically be where a window relay would be.
How about this? The 30 amp fuse, if there is no relay, would only have power when ignition key is in on or ACC. Test that- If fuse has power at all times, there must be a relay. but if fuse only has power in ON or ACC, I would think there is no relay and you might have a broken wire between the fuse and the switch . I am only guessing, so keep looking, if the diagram shows a relay, there could be one.

Camry 1994 power windows dead!

It is rare that the circuit breaker fails.
What I would do if I were you, is to check to see is the 10 amp GAUGE fuse (under the dash) and the 50 amp POWER fuse (in the fuse box under the hood) are good. If both fuses are indeed good, the next thing that I would do is to check to see if you have 12 volts power in the BLUE wire going to the driver side door switch, in the harness connector, that connects to the main switch. If you have no power in the BLUE wire, you have a broken wire between the body & the door harness. This is quite common. If you DO have power in the BLUE wire, replace the driver side master control switch. if the contacts in the DRIVER's part of the master switch fail, there is no power transmitted to any of the other windows. Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa. Please feel free to comment back if you need any further info.
