SOURCE: 95 gmc safari replaced fuel filter van ran great now wont start

Since you replaced the distributor, are you sure it's properly timed? Hook up timing light and try to crank. It should show you where your timing mark is. It will also verify that you are getting spark.
You need to start a systematic check. Is it electrical, mechanical, fuel related? Need to do more checking and maybe we can get that puppy going.

Good Luck

SOURCE: fuel pump relay

first alway check the simple things first like fuses and relays then start playin with changin out parts. under the hood you sould find a fuse panel if the lid does not tell you what is what you need to look into the service manuel find the fuel pump relay and switch it with the same type relay can works some the doesn't effect the engine like a fan relay for expamle. then try to start engine when turning key to the run pos you sould hear a fant hum or whine from the pump. if thats a no go take the main fuel line off before the fuel filter and see if a good stream of fuel comes out when you turn key to run pos.if so replace fuel filter.

Hi please can you help ive recently overhauled the the engine on my 2l opel rekord 1986 model but for some reason it keeps blowing the oil seal on the oil filter on start once then during idling once.

full rebuild with bearings, rings, head ,referb ,new oil pump
or partial rebuild re ring ?

filter issue wont be because of rebuild or higher oil pressure

try filling the filter with some oil before fitting
are you smearing the new oil filter seal with new oil before fitting
and is the surface of the face where the oil filter spins smooth no scratches or gouges or roughness

wierd
if the seal is intact you can use silicon sealant
to get it to seat and not leak

are to putting the filter on too tight or not tight enough?

spin till contact is made to block
and hand tighten only no filter tool
run motor and if leaking tighten one third turn more

if you use the tool and screw it on heavy
will flatten the seal and
you may need to cut the oil filter off next surface

1.9 dti opel pick up wont start

It could be an Immobilizer fault, if the spanner /car light comes on.
If you have a spare key, try it
A Flashing spanner light normally means immobiliser fault hence the non-start. The spanner light left might just be an indication that it has stored the "wrong transponder" code.
Opel will have to clear this but you might need a CIM as well that is the bit that reads the key to allow it to start.
Try the spare key if you have one

On 1.7 DTi models, a defective solenoid in the pump can cause failure of the ECU due to excessive current draw causing components to burn out. but this *should* cause other fault codes to appear.

I have a opel corsa 2003 dti . it runs for a few km then it starts jerking and then cuts out. i have to wait for a few minutes and then it starts and drives for a while . i have put a new fuel filter/air...

Diesel? Could be the supply pump or main injection pump, make sure all fuel connections are tight. Any introduction of air in the fuel system will shut her down.

My opel 1.7 dti jerks when driving

diesel engine surging could have partially clogged fuel fiter, fuel injectors could be worn or dirty, fuel pump could be failing, i would replace fuel filter first have fuel injectors checked out, if you see check engine light flashing have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.also replace air filter, diesel engine needs good volume air to work efficiently.

How to change a fuel filter on a 1994 mercury sable

this is for a 3.8 GS the fuel filter is located near the right rear tire

RELIEVING FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

  1. open the trunk. on the driver side pull back the carpet and you find the fuel cut switch. take your open hand and slap the side of the switch. it should pop up. now get in the car ans start it and run it till it stops. when it dies try to start once more.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the push connect fittings at both ends of the fuel filter. This is accomplished by removing the hairpin clips from the fittings. Remove the hairpin clips by first bending, and then breaking the shipping tabs on the clips. Spread the 2 clip legs approximately 1 / 8 in. (3mm) to disengage the body and push the legs into the fitting. Gently pull on the triangular end of the clip and work it clear of the fitting.
  3. Remove the filter from the mounting bracket by loosening the worm gear mounting clamp enough to allow the filter to pass through
  4. detach lines from fuel filter. move small bucket or whatever to catch what left in lines ( filter will still have gas in it)
  5. Install the new filter in the mounting bracket, ensuring that the flow direction arrow is pointing forward. Locate the fuel filter against the tab at the lower end of the bracket.
  6. Insert a new hairpin clip into any 2 adjacent openings on each push connect fitting, with the triangular portion of the clip pointing away from the fitting opening. Install the clip to fully engage the body of the fitting. This is indicated by the legs of the hairpin clip being locked on the outside of the fitting body. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the ends of the fuel filter, then push the fittings onto the ends of the filter. When the fittings are engaged, a definite click will be heard. Pull on the fittings to ensure that they are fully engaged.
  7. Tighten the worm gear mounting clamp to 15-25 inch lbs. (1.7-2.8 Nm)
  8. open the trunk again and push the button on the fuel switch down and reconnect the battery and start the engine and check for leaks

How do you change a fuel filter

All WJ models have two fuel filters, a strainer filter at the bottom of the fuel pump module inside the fuel tank and one exterior filter within the fuel pressure regulator. Both filters are designed for extended service. They do not require normal scheduled maintenance. Filters should only be replaced if a diagnostic procedure indicates to do so.

The combination fuel filter/pressure regulator is located in front of the fuel tank and above the rear axle. It is transversely mounted to a chassis crossmember (left-to-right). The filter/regulator is equipped with 3 fuel line fittings (2 at one end and 1 at the other end). The single fitting facing the left side of the vehicle is the supply line to the fuel rail. The 2 fittings facing the right side of the vehicle are connected to the fuel tank. Of these 2 fittings, the fitting towards the front is used for fuel return to the fuel tank. The fitting towards the rear is a pressure line.

Fig.: Fuel filter / regulator location

External filter/regulator removal
WARNING: THE FUEL SYSTEM IS UNDER A CONSTANT PRESSURE (EVEN WITH THE ENGINE OFF). BEFORE SERVICING ANY FUEL SYSTEM HOSES, FITTINGS OR LINES, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELEASED.

1. Remove fuel fill cap.
2. Remove fuel pump relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). For location of relay, refer to label on underside of PDC cover.
3. Start and run engine until it stalls.
4. Attempt restarting engine until it will no longer run.
5. Turn ignition key to OFF position.
6. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
7. Raise vehicle.
8. Clean area around 3 filter/regulator fittings.
9. Disconnect fuel supply, fuel return and fuel pressure lines at filter/regulator. Special tools may be required.
10. Remove 2 mounting bolts and remove filter/regulator.

External filter/regulator installation
1. Before installing filter/regulator, be sure all fittings are cleaned of all dirt and contaminants.
2. Be sure o-ring is positioned into fuel return fitting in filter/regulator.
3. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to o-rings.
4. Position filter/regulator to body and install 2 bolts. Tighten bolts. Refer to Torque Specifications.
5. Connect 3 fittings.
6. Connect negative battery cable to battery.
7. Start engine and check for leaks.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

Changing fuel filter on 2002 Mazda pickup

Clean all dirt and/or grease from the fuel filter fittings. "Quick Connect" fittings are used on models equipped with a pressurized fuel system. These fittings must be disconnected using the proper procedure or the fittings may be damaged. The fuel filter uses a "hairpin" clip retainer. Spread the two hairpin clip legs about 1/8 in. (3mm) each to disengage it from the fitting, then pull the clip outward. Use finger pressure only; do not use any tools. Push the quick connect fittings onto the filter ends. Mazda recommends that the retaining clips be replaced whenever removed. The fuel tubes used on these fuel systems are manufactured in 5/16 in. and 3/8 in. diameters. Each fuel tube takes a different size hairpin clip, so keep this in mind when purchasing new clips. A click will be heard when the hairpin clip snaps into its proper position. Pull on the lines with moderate pressure to ensure proper connection. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks. If the inertia switch (reset switch) was disconnected to relieve the fuel system pressure, cycle the ignition switch from the OFF to ON position several times to re-charge the fuel system before attempting to start the engine.
0900c15280192eed.jpgRemove the "hairpin" clip retainers to access the fuel line fittingsThe inline reservoir type fuel filter should last the life of the vehicle under normal driving conditions. If the filter does need to be replaced, proceed as follows:
CAUTIONIf the fuel filter is being serviced with the rear of the vehicle higher than the front, or if the tank is pressurized, fuel leakage or siphoning from the tank fuel lines could occur. to prevent this condition, maintain the vehicle front end at or above the level of the rear of vehicle. also, relieve tank pressure by loosening the fuel fill cap. cap should be tightened after pressure is relieved.
  1. Shut the engine off. Depressurize the fuel system.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  3. Detach the fuel lines from both ends of the fuel filter by disengaging both push connect fittings. Install new retainer clips in each push connect fitting.
  4. Note which way the flow direction arrow points on the old filter.
  5. Remove the filter from the bracket by loosening the filter retaining clamp enough to allow the filter to pass through.
The flow direction arrow should be positioned as installed in the bracket to ensure proper flow of fuel through the replacement filter.
  1. Install the filter in the bracket, ensuring proper direction of flow as noted by arrow. Tighten clamp to 15-25 inch lbs.
  2. Install the push connect fittings at both ends of the filter.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Push connect and R-clip fittings from the fuel filter
    • Fuel filter 0900c15280192eee.jpgFuel filter location and connections–2002–2006
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Fuel filter. Torque the nut to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
    • R-clip and push connect fittings
    • Negative battery cable
  2. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
