SOURCE: prius warning light is blinking
This is the security indicator light. Designed to alert potential theives that the alarm is active. It is a L.E.D. lamp, and will not drain the aux battery. Nothing to worry about, this is normal. Hope this helps, and Thanks for choosing FixYa!

Hi. When you have that particular light on, you need to get the power steering motor checked. This is not something that a non-Toyota service shop can check out. You need to take it to a Toyota dealer. They can check the steering motor system, and diagnose exactly what the issue is. Unfortunatly, there is no other way you can check it, as there is not "pump" on the stweering, it is actually a small motor that runs the steering.

That is the light that tells potential thieves the car has an immobilizer. What you describe is normal operation.
Look in the manual for "immobilizer".

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your car. It's actually keeping you safe! If the outside ambient temperature is +37F or lower, your car knows this and gives a warning for possible black ice conditions. Lots of people wonder the same thing, next time it shows the warning, note the outside temp to see if it's below +37F.
I hope this info helps!
