Why will my 2001 Nissan Sentra not idle?

Have you looked for vacume leaks at the intake gasket and all vacume lines also chek and test throtle pos. Sensor and idle air control on the throtle body

Stalls driving or setting and always starts back up

Many things cause this, a bad idle air control valve can cause this or a dirty throtle body plate, also a vacuum leak or a poor running engine in need of a tune up. i would start by having the idle air control valve checked and make sure throtle plate is clean then work torward how smooth does engine run, does it need tune-up.

Car will start but will die right away, but has no problem starting, could that be the idle control?

That is correct it could be the idle air control valve, before replacing it try to clean the throtle body and open the plate by having someone hold pedal down so you can clean area around the plate also, most times its a drity throtle, after cleaning and it stalls then replace the valve good luck and hope this helps.

1993 Olds v6 races when started. Replaced idle air valve. no change. Checked throtle position sensor. It seems to be working. Took to mechanic and he replaced the main computer and idle problem seemed to...

my 1994 had the same problem, where the TPS sensor connects there is a small rod that moves you should be able to see it without taking anything apart it wsa rusty and sticking so i sprayed it with wd-40 a couple of times and that solved the problem for me,don't know it that will help but maybe it's worth a try. or maybe your throtle cable to the gas pedal has worn a grove inside the cable and you can't see this problem, but atleast have it checked to see if it's sticking.

Power Issue?

check your throtle possiton sensor. it controls the amount of gas given to the engine when you push the pedal. i had the same problem. its located right behind the throtle body and connected by 2 screws. its adjustable so tinker with it and if it needs replaced its about 100 bucks

S10 has very high idle when cold and sticks to the gas when warm

you need to replace the throtle body controll sensor. Also you may want to make sure all your linkage from the pedal to the throtle body is cleaned and lubed correctly. While playing in this direct area. Your throtle body is only 4 bolts away. Why not get some carb cleaner and get to know your truck just a litle more.

If this is a carborator, then you need to turn my warmup idle down. there are 2 sets of idles on carborators. the one to warm up the engine, automatic choke or pin settings. Get a Chilton, find out which idles pin is for what. and play a litle bit.

I think you have a throtle body so I would also check the automatic air intake sensor. It could be going bad. Check your filter and make sure its clean.

hope all this helps.
